From Finland to Sweden by snowmobile including a night's stay at the ICEHOTEL

For an Arctic adventure of a lifetime embark on a riveting snowmobile safari to discover some of the most stunning, unspoilt scenery of Finnish and Swedish Lapland. Whilst on your epic snowmobile safari you can enjoy the northern wilderness of snow-covered forests and frozen lakes, a visit to the old village of Kangos and an overnight stay at the world-famous ICEHOTEL® in Jukkasjärvi in Sweden.

Please note that this tour requires a minimum of four passengers to operate.

All drivers of a snowmobile must have a valid driving licence in order to take part in the tour.

Day 1 - Arriving Ylläs in Finland

Upon arrival at Kittila airport, our local English-speaking guide will meet you for a private transfer to Ylläs and your accommodation at Lapland Hotel Ylläs Kaltio in Äkäslompolo village. Relax in your own private sauna before dinner at the hotel.

Day 2 - Ylläs to Kangos (approx 68 miles)

Following a buffet breakfast at the hotel, it is time to pack the necessary personal effects for our 4 days snowmobile adventure before meeting your guide in the hotel lobby. You are provided with thermal clothing and a helmet before being given the safety and driving instructions needed to make the most of this thrilling adventure of a lifetime. We start the engines and head towards the Swedish border, taking in the stunning scenery of frozen lakes and snow-covered forests along the way and stopping for a picnic lunch en-route. In the afternoon, we arrive at the 400 year-old Swedish village of Kangos, beautifully situated by the banks of the River Lainio where our accommodation for the night is at the charming Kangos Guesthouse. Time to relax in the sauna before dinner is served in the Guesthouse’s dining room.

Day 3 - Kangos to Jukkasjärvi (approx 87 miles)

After breakfast, we continue our snowmobile adventure through the changing terrain over rugged fells, rivers and lakes stopping along the way to enjoy a picnic lunch. In the afternoon, we arrive at the Swedish village of Jukkasjärvi where the world famous ICEHOTEL® is situated. Located 125 miles north of the Arctic Circle in Swedish Lapland, the sensational Icehotel is the world's largest hotel made entirely from ice and snow. This fairytale palace boasts an Ice Chapel, a Pillar Hall, a range of bedrooms, plus the famous ABSOLUT ICEBAR, all decorated with striking ice art and sculptures; an ideal base for an unforgettable Arctic Adventure.
We check in at the hotel and spend some time exploring this amazing ice construction before dinner is served in the evening at the restaurant adjacent to the Icehotel. Return to the ICEHOTEL® and your ice room for the unique experience of sleeping on an ice-block covered by insulating reindeer skins. The room temperature stays at a constant -5°C to -8°C, which feels pleasantly warm when outdoor temperatures can dip to -37°C, and you are kept snug and warm in a survival sleeping bag.

Day 4 - Jukkasjärvi to Lainio Vildmark (approx 68 miles)

Followed by a hearty breakfast and a sauna, we leave Jukkasjärvi behind as we continue our snowmobile journey through the beautiful Lappish scenery. On our way, we might catch sight of some forest-dwellers such as the fox, reindeer or the snow-white willow grouse. We stop for a picnic lunch before be continue our drive to Lainio Wilderness centre where we arrive in the afternoon for overnight accommodation in one of the cosy cottages. Dinner is served in the main building.

Day 5 - Lainio wilderness centre to Ylläs (approx 87 miles)

After breakfast in the main building at the Lainio wilderness centre, we start the engines and head towards the Finnish and Swedish border passing the beautiful Pallas-Ounas fell and National Park. Picnic lunch is served en-route. In the afternoon, we arrive back at our starting point in Ylläs where we transfer to the Lapland Hotel Ylläs Kaltio. Time to enjoy a sauna in your own room before dinner at the hotel restaurant.

Day 6 - Departing Yllas/Finland

Following breakfast, transfer to Kittilä airport for your return flight to the UK.
Or why not extend your Arctic adventure with a few more days in Ylläs; perhaps even explore the Finnish capital with a stopover in Helsinki on your return journey!
