Finland : Lapland Adventure Week
Enjoy skiing, snowmobiling and dog sledging in Lapland
Jump to the adventure in the beautiful scenery of Finnish Lapland! This adventure week is an excellent opportunity to experience the true wilderness and at the same time enjoy the high level of accommodation and delicious food. During the reindeer safari you will experience the way the Lapps used to travel in the past. With a snowmobile you’ll discover a more modern way to explore the surroundings. To finish the week, you can enjoy the silence and the beauty of the nature on a one-day sleddog safari. Hotel Kittilä is located in the village of Kittilä, only four kilometres from the Kittilä Airport and 18 km from the Levi ski resort. All rooms are renovated and the sauna with a swimming pool are at the guests’ disposal every night.

Day 1 -
Arrive at Kittila
|
Arrival at Kittilä airport, transfer to Hotel Kittilä (4km). Meet up with the safari group and information about the programme for the week. Dinner and overnight in cosy double rooms in Hotel Kittilä.

Day 2 -
Visit Reindeer Farm
|
Today we will visit one of the reindeer farms. After the breakfast departure to the local reindeer farm. We’ll hear some interesting information about the reindeer herding and start a reindeer safari of ca. 12 kms long (two persons in the sledge). Lunch will be served in a teepee during the safari. All participants receive a reindeer driving licence. After the reindeer programme we continue by bus for a guided tour in Levi area. Levi is one of the biggest skiing resorts in Finland. The duration of the programme is about 5 hours. Return to Hotel Kittilä. Sauna and dinner

Day 3 -
Cross Country Skiing
|
This morning will be dedicated to cross-country skiing. The skiing tracks start nearby the hotel and the excursion in the snowy scenery lasts 2-3 hours. Return to the hotel and lunch in the restaurant. Afternoon will be free for your own activities like shopping or trying the snow-shoes

Day 4 -
Snowmobile
|
Our experienced guides will show you how to drive the snowmobile (2 persons per snowmobile) and you will spend the day driving through the beautiful winter scenery to visit Lainio Snow Village situated between Ylläsjärvi and Kittilä. The snow village is surrounded by a 3-metre high wall made of snow and inside the wall there is a Snow Hotel and an Ice Bar. Lunch in the Ice Restaurant. Duration of the excursion approx. 5 hours, the distance driven 80 kms. Sauna and dinner.

Day 5 -
Free Day
|
This day is free for your own activities. You can go cross-country skiing, and downhill skiing is possible in Levi. Or what about a snow-shoe tour? You can go shopping or just relax. All meals will be served in our hotel.

Day 6 -
Dog Sledding
|
After breakfast a short transfer to the Husky Kennel (ca. 15 min), where you´ll get acquainted with the happy huskies. You will be taught how to handle the sled and then you leave for the whole day sleddog safari. Picnic lunch will be served by a campfire during the safari. Everybody drives own dog team of 4-5 dogs. The distance driven is ca. 25 km. In the afternoon return to hotel. After having a relaxing sauna bath you will have a farewell dinner with lapp specialities in the restaurant. Overnight in Hotel Kittilä.

The order of the programme is subject to change. Please note that children under 15 years cannot drive the snowmobile and small children cannot even drive the husky team. They will be sitting in the guide´s sledge during the safaris.
