A picturesque hideaway situated in the beautiful Finnish Lakeland region - the base camp of Metsäkartano is an ideal location for a fabulous family activity holiday. You are assured of a genuine wilderness experience that includes fresh air, hilly forests, lakes and rivers which reach as far as the eye can see – the perfect place to get active!
Your children will relish the opportunity to escape the UK and get active in the great outdoors. This holiday is catered to ensure that you will have 6 days free from your children's moans of “I’m bored” which normally accompanies the summer holidays. In fact your family won’t want to leave this summer activity haven where they have enjoyed canoeing, climbing and art activities.
There are 5 Marjamaa log cabins for families sleeping up to 12 people. The apartments include 1 to 3 bedrooms, a sleeping loft, kitchen, living-room, private facilities (2 toilets), your very own sauna and balcony. For larger groups there are additional log cabins available offering up to 26 beds in four rooms.
Other facilities in the main building include a 135 seat atmospheric dining room with, a climbing wall, a cosy café and reception area, 6 saunas, lecture and teamwork rooms for up to 300 people.
Itinerary

Day 1 -
Welcome to Metsäkartano
|
|
On arriving at the base camp in the afternoon/evening and after checking in at your holiday apartment, we will gather in the main building for dinner and a briefing on the location and the activities planned for the ensuing days. No introduction to Finland is complete without a sauna before an evening snack and overnight.

Day 2 -
Wall climbing, canoeing, archery and overnight in a tepee
|
After breakfast, you have an action-packed day ahead, starting off with wall climbing on the 10 metre high ”rock face”. Lunch is served before a fabulous canoeing trip to the nearby Ylä-Keyritty, an uninhabited lake area where no motorised vessels are allowed. In the afternoon, you get to try your hand at handicrafts working with bone, stone, felt or clay. Dinner is served by the open fire and you get the option to make the most of your nature experience with an overnight stay in a tepee or turf cabin.

Day 3 -
Football, Hiking and Frisbee golf
|
Following breakfast, enjoy a game of football in this wilderness location before lunch. To enable you to explore more of this beauty spot, you can look forward to a hiking trip in the surrounding forest area followed by frisbee golf in the afternoon. Dinner, sauna and evening snack before overnight in your holiday apartment.

Day 4 -
Cycling, fishing, swamp soccer and swimming
|
After breakfast, you get a chance to discover more of the outstanding scenery on a mountain bike trip. Try your luck at fishing before lunch followed by swamp soccer. In the afternoon, head for the nearby sandy beach for some swimming in the lake. Sauna, dinner and time at your leisure before an evening snack and overnight.

Day 5 -
Climbing, beach volley, indoor ball games and evening party

Breakfast is followed by climbing, beach volley and lunch. In the afternoon, try some of the many indoor activities available such as volleyball and basketball. After dinner, enjoy a party and to celebrate a great experience in the Finnish Lakeland.

Day 6 -
Depart Metsäkartano
|
After breakfast, time to say good bye to Metsäkartano and the new friends you have met during this memorable time in Finland.
