A long snowmobile adventure (Available Friday)

This is a whole day of driving a snowmobile far out into the snow covered forests, driving through various types of terrain. A challenging ride of about 80 - 100km. We recommend one person per snowmobile to really enjoy the fun and become an experienced driver. There will be a stop on route to make a campfire and have lunch. Duration approx 6 hours.

Action snowmobile safari (Available Thursday)

This action snowmobile safari is for those who would like to drive a bit faster with the snowmobiles. Before the safari you must have been driving a snowmobile earlier in the week. We also recommend 1 person per snowmobile. Duration 2.5 - 3 hours approx.

Excursion to Ranua Zoo and Rovaniemi Santa Village (Available Saturday)

Depart from the hotel by bus to Ranua Wildlife Park for an approx 2 hour visit ( 11 Euros entrance fee to paid on arrival). Onwards to Rovaniemi to the Polarcircle and visit Santa's village. There are many souvenir and Finnish design/handicraft shops. You can even meet Santa himself if you wish. Duration approx 8 hours. A minimum of 6 paying adults is needed to be able to carry out this excursion.

Full day husky safari including campfire lunch (Available Wednesday)

You will transported to the huskyfarm where the huskies are eagerly waiting for visitors to come. You will have an introduction to the dogs and receive instructions on driving the sledge. The safari route goes through snowy forests and ice covered lakes in the Iso Syote nature area. Along the way there will be stop for a sandwich lunch by an open fire. Other stops will be made to switch drivers and take photographs. Duration approx 4 - 5 hours.

Ice fishing trip to a beautiful frozen lake. Coffee break by an open fire. Transfer to the lake by car, drill the holes, lower the line and wait until you get a catch. Campfire in kota. Duration 2-3 hours

Ice rally driving (Available Friday)

A special rally track has been prepared with snowy and iced curved roads. Reijo, a professional rally driver is waiting to teach you how to drive these special prepared rally cars. After some practice loops with front and rear wheel steering you can make your final loop to clock your best time ever. Transfers to and from the circuit are included. A minimum of 4 people are needed to carry out the excursion. Duration approx 2 hours.

Kicksledge Glides and rides (Available Tuesday)

A real Finnish way of getting around when snow covers the paths. Kicksledges are great fun to glide down the hill kicking them forwards with one leg while the other is standing on one glider. Snowfun and action on the Iso Syote hilltop and all the way down the hill to the Lappish kota where the campfire will be made and coffee and pulla will be served. Duration approx 2 - 3 hours. 1 person per kicksledge.

Northern light safari (Available Tuesday , Wednesday)

A night-time snowmobile safari that has a special atmosphere when driving under twinkling stars on the fells and through the snowy forests. We stop to admire the stars in the sky and have a coffee break by an open fire. If you are lucky you might see the northern lights. Duration approx 3 hours.

Reindeer safari in old fashioned stylem (Available Friday)

This is a pleasant way of travelling, sitting in a reindeer sleigh watching the reindeer "caravan" move when connected by a rope to each other. This is the old fashioned Lappish way. Coffee and snacks are served in a "kota" tepee. Duration 2.5 - 3 hours.

Safari to reindeer farm by car (Available Saturday)

A real cultural experience where you can learn more about the culture and history of the area and reindeer breeding. We start from the hotel and drive towards Virkkunen's traditional reindeer farm which is situated 18km from the hotel. At the farm the owner tells about reindeer herding and the life at the farm, history, culture and traditions. He takes you to his herd and afterwards welcomes you into his home for coffee, homemade cakes and reindeer sandwiches. You can also try to throw the reindeer lasso and go for a ride in a reindeer sledge. Duration approx 3 hours.

Snowmobile & Husky safari (Available Tuesday)

The safari starts from the Hotel and you drive by snowmobile to the place where the huskies are eagerly waiting for visitors. After the introduction to the huskies and instruction you will take off with the huskies, strongly pulling your sledge. There are stops to switch drivers and take pictures. Duration approx 3.5 - 4 hours (including return safari) approx 6 km with huskies and 23 km with snowmobiles.

Snowmobile safari to a frozen lake and ice fishing (Available Wednesday)

You will start from the hotel by snowmobile and travel through the forest to a frozen lake. All the necessary equipment will be taken in order to drill the holes in the ice so you are able to fish and coffee will be served by an open fire. Duration approx 3 - 4 hours.

Snowmobile safari to wilderness (Available Monday, Friday, Saturday)

The safari starts from the hotel where the snowmobiles are lined up. The track goes downhill and then along the fells, through the forest with heavy snow covered trees and over ice covered swamps or lakes. You will stop for coffee around a campfire. After the break you will drive back up the Iso Syote Hill. Duration approx 3 hours.

Snowshoe hiking trip (Available Thursday)

Our trip starts from the hotel after personal instructions on how to use the snowshoes. The trip goes through deep snow covering the hilltop of Iso Syote. Enjoy the views and the beautiful snow sculptures made by mother nature. During the break the guide will serve you a hot drink and cookies. Duration approx 2 - 2.5 hours.

Accommodation

Hotel Iso-Syöte
Ideally located on top of a 1,400 foot fell, this friendly and relaxed hotel offers fantastic panoramic views of the surrounding area and easy access to the adjacent slopes. All 30 double rooms offer private facilities and satellite TV with non-smoking and allergy rooms available. After a day’s winter activities the swimming pool and saunas are great places to relax. The main restaurant offers excellent meals and dance music. There is also a pleasant lounge bar and a small nightclub.

Cabins
A very popular choice is to stay in one of the hotel’s traditional rustic cabins located 300 yards from the main building. Built from silver pine logs, these cosy cabins are usually covered in snow during winter creating a true picture postcard atmosphere for an authentic Lapland experience. The cabins sleep up to four people with a double bedroom, living room with sofa beds and open fireplace, sauna, shower, toilet, porch and kitchen with crockery, refrigerator, coffee maker and oven. Guests can use all the facilities of the hotel.
