Lapland for children:
The services and activities in Salla are provided specifically with the needs of children in mind affording a safe and thrilling introduction to the fascinating world of Lapland. There are play areas for the children in the hotel, cottage areas and activity centres. For the older children, the Sallihalli sports hall is great for indoor activities such as squash, tennis, badminton, table tennis and volleyball.

Lapland on skis:
Beginners and experienced skiers alike will enjoy the ten slopes of Sallatunturi Fell which boast perfect conditions and varying grades of difficulty. There are four blue slopes for pure and gentle enjoyment while the two red slopes are more demanding. The two black slopes provide enough speed and challenge to satisfy even the most daring of downhill skiers. The SkiData lift access system guarantees queuing at the slopes is a thing of the past.
For cross country skiers, there are some 80 km of excellent, well-maintained ski trails of which 35 km are illuminated. You also find 34 km of ski-touring trails. The skiing season starts in November and ends in late April.

Optional Excursions

Husky Adventure

The adventure starts from the main building of the reindeer park where the guide will harness the dogs to the wooden sleighs. You will be more than welcome to help out and to get to know the dogs. The guide will also show you how to make your team of dogs stop and turn. The friendly huskies are ready to take you on a breathtaking trip through the snowy landscape. There are two people on each sleigh, one of you to drive and the other tucked comfortable in the sleigh bag. You will be able to swap places half way. We stop en-route for coffee and sausages cooked on an open fire in the middle of the forest. After our picnic, the journey continues, returning back to the reindeer park.

Duration: 6 hours
Including: warm outer clothing if necessary, lunch break by the open fire with soup, coffee and sausages.

Reindeer Adventure

A trip to Lapland and Salla is not complete without a visit to the traditional Salla Reindeer Park - an amazing 200 hectare nature park area built in strict compliance with the traditions of reindeer husbandry. Here, you will experience reindeers, Lappish people and the Lappish way of life close-up, surrounded by reindeer herdsman, cabins, turf-covered huts, reindeer round-ups and Kotas.
Duration: 5-6 hours
Distance: approximately 10-15 km
Including: feeding the reindeer, a 10-15 km reindeer sledge ride, Ice fishing and a light lunch in forest (Reindeer burger, black pot of coffee and grilled sausages in a Lapp hut.

Wonders of the Fell region

A full day safari from Fell Sallatunturi via Fell Ruuhitunturi and Lake Suomu to Fell Suomutuntuti, where we stop to enjoy a well deserved lunch break.

Accommodation

Cottages
The ever-popular cottages offer a high standard of cosy accommodation to make the most of your Lapland adventure. Each cottage has a cooker, microwave oven, refrigerator, coffee maker, toaster, dishwasher and washing-machine, drying cabinet for clothes, TV, radio, telephone, your own sauna and an open fireplace in the living room.
In the main building, enjoy a wide choice of locally produced cuisine in the cosy ‘Kiela’ restaurant and recall the days’ events over a drink in the popular ‘Papana Pupi’ pub.

Hotel
Hotel Revontuli offers an informal and cosy atmosphere for the whole family. With an ideal location at the foot of the slopes, the hotel boasts 26 double rooms of which four can be interconnected to two spacious family rooms. The rooms all have private facilities, TV, telephone and a drying cabinet. The hotel’s sauna and pool area will provide a relaxing end to an adventurous day in Lapland. The ski track and hiking trails start from just outside the hotel and you will find all the necessary services such as ski rental and a store with groceries, fresh pastries and souvenirs, within easy walking distance.

Apartments
The Tunturitähti apartments offer spacious (54 sq metres) and comfortable accommodation at the foot of the slopes next to the hotel. Each apartment offers a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom, 2 toilets, ski cabinet for secure stowage, TV, telephone, cd player, a drying cabinet for clothes your very own sauna and a fireplace.
