Arrive in Reykjavík

Once you have transferred from the airport to your hotel in Reykjavík, there may be time to explore your new surroundings.

Day 2 -
Snæfellsnes
|
The Country Life tour begins with a thrilling journey through ever-changing landscapes from Borgarnes to the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. Discover the national park which is home to the Snæfell Glacier that covers the peak of an incredible volcano. The Country Life tour continues through ports, towns, lava fields and along the breathtaking coastline to Stykkishólmur. We stay overnight in the area of Borgarfjörður.

Day 3 -
Hraunfossar Waterfalls
|
Today on the Country Life tour we visit the spectacular Hraunfossar Waterfalls that rush over rugged lava fields into the Hvíta River. See the smoky hot springs of Deildartunguhver, which are the country’s largest and most impressive. Later on the Country Life tour we arrive at Þingeyjarsýsla where you can spot over 70 varieties of birds. You will spend the following two nights in Þingeyjarsýsla.

Day 4 -
Húsavík Whale Watching and Lake Mývatn
|
One of the highlights of the Country Life tour is an exceptional whale watching trip off the coast of Húsavík, which has become Europe’s whale watching capital. Sail out into the deep blue waters in a traditional oak boat and look for the remarkable creatures of the deep. As majestic mountains adorn the seascape, different species of whale emerge from the water. Next on the Country Life tour, head to Goðafoss, named the ‘Waterfall of the Gods’ which can be found in the region of Mývatn. The lake here is bordered by unusual lava formations and volcanic landforms, creating a surreal landscape. Later, the Country Life tour guides us through Dimmuborgir lava field before we return to our accommodation for the night.

Day 5 -
Krafla Volcano and Dettifoss Waterfall
|
Krafla is one of Iceland’s active volcanoes and is located in the geothermal region of Vatnajökull National Park, which is the largest in Europe. Ice covers over half of the park and contrasts with the geothermal activity and volcanism. We visit Dettifoss Waterfall next on the Country Life tour before travelling east to Egilsstaðir.

Day 6 -
Vatnajökull Glacier
|
This immense glacier is the greatest in Europe and engulfs up to an astounding 8% of Iceland. On the Country Life tour you can take an exciting boat ride onto the lagoon and watch in awe as the glacier calves into the water.

Day 7 -
Skaftafell National Park
|
|
The national park lies at the bottom of the immense Hvannadalshnjúkur Mountain which is the highest peak in Iceland. On the Country Life tour you can admire the extraordinary panoramas of beaches, glaciers, cliffs and waterfalls that make up the route to Rangárvallasýsla where we spend the night.

Day 8 -
Golden Circle Tour
|
Before we head to southwest Iceland on the Country Life tour, you will get the opportunity to meet the Icelandic horse, which is the only breed of horse in the country. We drive to the stunning Gullfoss Waterfall, see Iceland’s most active geyser, Strokkur, and explore the UNESCO listed Þingvellir National Park where the world’s first parliament was formed. The Country Life tour returns to Reykjavík where you will spend your final night.

Depart Reykjavík

Today the Country Life tour concludes. Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before travelling back to the airport for your flight home.
