Day 2 -
Geological Gems

Begin your holiday in Reykjavík, calling firstly at Hraunfossar Waterfall. This spectacular series of falls flows for almost a kilometre across a dramatic lava field. Next, climb Grábrók volcano and look down into its astonishing crater. Iceland tours continue on a scenic drive north and arrive in Akureyri where you will check into your selected accommodation for the next five nights.

Day 3 -
Sightseeing in the City

This morning there is an interesting guided tour of Akureyri to enjoy which includes a visit to the pretty botanical gardens. The afternoon is free for you to browse the city’s museums and shops, or make your Iceland tours unique and book your own excursion for the day. You guide will be eager to help with whatever you decide to do.

Day 4 -
Lovely Lake Mývatn
|
Iceland tours continue with a day trip to the spectacular Goðafoss Waterfall and then onto Lake Mývatn. Over 2000 years ago, a volcanic eruption created this picturesque lake and it is now home to a rich variety of birdlife. Day three of Iceland tours is definitely the day to bring your camera!

Day 5 -
At Leisure
|
Today you are free to spend the day as you wish. You can enhance your Iceland tours by booking an optional tour to the country’s most northerly town, Siglufjörður, where you can admire views of the magnificent fjord. Alternatively, stay in Akureyri and explore at your own pace.

Day 6 -
Whale Watching (optional)

Today’s Iceland tours take you to the charming fishing town of Húsavík where there is a fantastic opportunity to join a whale watching tour if you so wish. Over 20 different species of whale have been spotted in and around the bay and this may be your chance to witness some of these incredible animals in their natural habitat. In the afternoon, Iceland tours continue to Europe’s most powerful waterfall, Dettifoss.

Day 7 -
Journey to the South

Enjoy a relaxing journey down through the centre of Iceland and admire the views as Iceland tours continue to Hella on the south coast. Along the way we pass two impressive glaciers and there is even time to take a dip in the warming thermal springs at Hveravellir. Check into your chosen accommodation where you will stay for the second half of Iceland tours.

Day 8 -
Glaciers and Volcanic Landscapes

On day seven we explore the glorious south of the country which is bursting with scenes of lava formations, glaciated valleys, gushing waterfalls and noisy bird cliffs. Today on Iceland tours there is the exciting opportunity to go glacier walking, led by experienced guides. Alternatively, travel on and visit the beautiful Skogar area.

Mighty Hekla

This morning, tours of Iceland take you past the country’s most active volcano, Hekla. Later, visit the impressive Hjálparfoss Waterfall and then continue to the old Viking ruins at Stöng where you can learn about Iceland’s historically notorious inhabitants.

Day 10 -
At Leisure

Day ten of Iceland tours is yours to enjoy as you wish. Spend some time in the town of Hella or join an optional tour to the beautiful Skaftafell area. During Iceland tours you can take a leisurely hike to Svartifoss Waterfall and witness Europe’s largest glacier which drains into a stunning blue glacial lagoon that is usually peppered with icebergs.

Day 11 -
Westman Islands

Today, tours of Iceland take you on a refreshing ferry ride to the picturesque Westman Islands, one of the country’s best kept secrets. Explore the harbour town of Heimaey on a guided sightseeing tour before choosing one of the delightful cafés for lunch. In the afternoon you can take a walk around the island and enjoy the fresh coastal air.

Day 12 -
Iceland’s Golden Circle

Iceland tours are not complete without a trip to see some of the country’s most famous attractions. See the amazing Gullfoss waterfall and the legendary Geysir which ejects boiling water up to 70 metres into the air. Next on Iceland tours, continue to Þingvellir National Park and enjoy the striking scenery.

Blue Lagoon

The final day of Iceland tours gives you the option to experience a dip in the legendary Blue Lagoon, geothermally heated with mineral rich waters. You can also visit more hot springs, fascinating bird cliffs and end the day with a guided sightseeing tour of Reykjavík. Our Iceland tours end in Reykjavík where you can either catch your return flight back to the UK or spend a further night or two in the country’s capital.
