There is also an Aurora Hunting excursion on board the Sky Panorama Bus,which is the only bus in Finland that is fitted with a panoramic skylight. The bus allows you to search for the Northen Lights in warmth and comfort.
Lapland Igloo Village boasts 15 snow igloos, 15 glass igloos, an ice bar, an ice gallery, ice chapel and the world’s largest snow restaurant. The main accommodation is a rustic log cabin - with one night in a magnificent snow or glass igloo. The temperature in the snow igloo drops below zero offering you the unique chance to spend the night in arctic conditions, you’ll be kept warm and snug in padded sleeping bags. Alternatively if you would prefer warm accommodation you can spend the night in a glass igloo which offers a panoramic view of the night sky and is an excellent way to view the Northern Lights. Day 1 -
Arrival in Finnish Lapland

On arrival transfer from Ivalo airport to the Lapland Igloo Village in Kakslauttanen. After dinner at the village restaurant spend the evening relaxing and exploring the spectacular snow igloos, ice chapel or enjoy a drink in the ice bar. There is a good chance of seeing the Northern Lights in Lapland as you are above the Arctic Circle, be sure to keep you eyes on the sky for the mesmerising phenomena. Your first night is in your log cabin which has private facilities, a kitchenette, a fireplace and a private sauna.

Day 2 -
Dog Sled Adventure

Enjoy a buffet breakfast in the beautiful log restaurant which is located within walking distance of your accommodation. Afterwards dress warmly before meeting the team of friendly husky dogs who will be eager to take you on a dog sled adventure. These northern dogs are perfectly suited to harsh Arctic conditions and enjoy pulling the sledge to their hearts’ content. The duration of the excursion is around 4 hours, afterwards we suggest warming up in your private sauna. In the evening enjoy dinner at village restaurant before spending the rest of the night at your leisure. Overnight stay in your log cabin.

Day 3 -
Reindeer Excursion

After breakfast enjoy an excursion to a local reindeer farm where you will learn about the culture and lifestyle of the indigenous Sami people. You also have a chance to try a ride in a reindeer sledge. This excursion lasts around 4 hours, when you return enjoy some free time before dinner. Maybe tonight there will be a display of the Northern Lights in Lapland, be sure to search the sky for dazzling curtains of red, green and yellow light. Overnight stay in your log cabin.

Day 4 -
A night in a glass Igloo - see the Northern Lights over Lapland
|
Today is a day at leisure to relax and enjoy the beautiful, peaceful settings of Lapland, you may want to try cross-country skiing or ice-fishing. There is a real arctic, yet perfectly comfortable experience in store for you tonight as you have the rare opportunity to try sleeping in an igloo made of snow. You will receive instrutions from a member of staff on staying warm during the night. The temperature inside the igloo varies between minus 3 and minus 6 degrees Centigrade, but the padded sleeping bags and insulating reindeer hides will keep you warm even at much lower temperatures. There are also a few heated glass igloos available (additional cost) which are normal room temperature and offer panoramic views of the Northern Lights. Lapland is in a very good location for displays of the Aurora Borealis although there is no guarantee that you will see them during your stay, as it is a naturally occurring and unpredictable phenomena. Your log cabin is also at your disposal should you prefer not to stay all night in the igloo. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5 -
Departure from the Lapland Igloo Village

Transfer from the Lapland Igloo Village by the hotel’s shuttle bus to Ivalo airport for the flight back to London.
