The accommodation is in rustic log cabins - with one night in a magnificent snow or glass igloo. The temperature in the snow igloos drops below zero offering you the unique chance to spend the night in arctic conditions, you’ll be kept warm and snug in padded sleeping bags. Alternatively if you would prefer warm accommodation you can spend the night in a glass igloo, which has a panoramic view of night sky and is an excellent way to view the Aurora Borealis. Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival in the Land of Snow

Transfer from Ivalo airport to Hotel and Igloo Village Kakslauttanen. Dinner at the village restaurant. Overnight in log cabin with private facilities, kitchenette, fireplace and private sauna. Meals included: Dinner

Day 2 - Dog Sled Adventure

Buffet breakfast is served in the beautiful log restaurant, located within walking distance from your accommodation. After breakfast meet a team of friendly husky dogs who are eager to take you on a dogsled adventure. These northern dogs are perfectly suited to harsh Arctic conditions and enjoy pulling the sledge to their hearts’ content.  Duration of the excursion is 4 hours. Dinner at village restaurant. Overnight in log cabin. Meals included: Breakfast, Dinner

Day 3 - Reindeer Excursion

After breakfast enjoy an excursion to a local reindeer farm, where you will learn about the culture and lifestyle of the Lapp people. You also have a chance to try a ride in a reindeer sledge. Duration of the excursion: 4 hours. Dinner. Overnight in log cabin. Meals included: Breakfast, Dinner

Day 4 - A night in an Igloo

Today is a day at leisure to relax and enjoy the beautiful, peaceful settings of Lapland. You may want to try cross-country skiing or ice-fishing. There is a real arctic, yet perfectly comfortable experience in store for you tonight, as you have a rare opportunity to try sleeping in an igloo made of snow. Reindeer hides and woollen rugs will keep you warm. The temperature inside the igloo varies between minus 3 and minus 6 degrees Centigrade, but the padded sleeping bags would keep you warm even at much lower temperatures. There are also a few glass igloos available with normal room temperature and you have the option to experience the polar night in one of them. Your log cabin is also at your disposal should you prefer not to stay all night in the igloo. Dinner and overnight. Meals included: Breakfast, Dinner

Day 5 - Good bye and departure

Transfer by hotel’s shuttle bus to Ivalo airport for the flight back to London. Meals included: Breakfast

Snowmobile safari

Our snowmobile safari takes you to the small ski village of Saariselkä situated some 10 kms away. Private transfer by car from the hotel to the safari office, where you will receive full equipment including thermal suit, boots, socks, gloves, balaclava and helmet. An all-important lesson follows. When everybody is ready the safari trail begins with a drive up to the beautiful Kaunispää fell, 436m above sea level, and from here you will have the most stunning views over the surrounding area. The trail then continues through the beautifully mystical forest. This safari is available for duration of 2 hours including a coffee break or for 4 hours including lunch cooked over an open fire in a wilderness hut. Two persons can share one snowmobile and take turns in driving or you can request one for sole occupancy at a supplementary cost. This safari provides an everlasting memory of true excitement in Finnish Lapland!
