Day 1 - (Sunday) Fly to Norway to begin your fjord holiday

Arrive in Bergen and check-in at the Scandic Hotel Bergen City (formerly the Bergen Hotel) which is located in the city centre. After dinner (depending on flight times) you may have time to explore the many attractions of the city.

Day 2 - (Monday)Bergen - Lavik - Skei

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel before spending the day at your leisure. We recommend booking the optional city sightseeing tour. Attractions in the city include:

• Troldhaugen - the home of the world famous composer Edvard Grieg
• The stunning Rosenkrantz Tower
• Haakons Hall at Bergenhus Fortress
• The famous Hanseatic harbour area Bryggen
• The Flöibanen funicular to Mount Flöien, where you can enjoy spectacular views of the city and its surrounding areas

After spending the day in the city join the 16.30 hrs coastal voyage which sails through breathtaking scenery along the west coast to Gulen. This is the beginning of Sognefjord, the longest and deepest fjord in the world. After arriving in Lavik travel by coach through the picturesque areas Vadheim and Førde to Skei on Lake Jølster. Check-in to the Skei Hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3 - (Tuesday) Skei – Fjærland/Glaciers Tour - Skei

After breakfast at the Skei hotel, you have some free time to make the most of the hotel’s excellent amenities and explore the wonderful Lake Jølster area. There is also an optional excursion to Fjærland which begins with a scenic drive along Lake Jølster, through a 6.350m tunnel and past the Bøyumsdal glacier to the small rural community of Fjærland. After visiting the Norwegian Glacier Museum the excursion continues past the Supphelle glacier, which is unique due to its amazingly low altitude which is only 51m above sea level, to the Bøyum Glacier where you can enjoy afternoon coffee. After a day of sightseeing please return to the Skei Hotel for your evening dinner.

Day 4 - (Wednesday) Skei - Geiranger - Norway fjords holiday tour

Breakfast is served at the hotel before you set off on an incredible journey through the Våtedal Valley, passing across the Utvik Mountain and along the magnificent Nordfjord. The full day excursion, which is included in the price of the tour, also passes the small villages of Olden, Loen and Stryn on route to Hellesylt. Next is a spectacular 1-hour cruise on the magnificent Geirangerfjord, which passes some of Norway’s most famous waterfalls. After the cruise continue to Mount Dalsnibba for unsurpassed views of the Geirangerfjord. Return to Skei via Grotli, Hjelle and Lake Oppstryn. Dinner is at the Skei Hotel where you will be staying overnight.

Day 5 - (Thursday) Skei - Briksdal - Skei

After breakfast at the hotel the rest of the day is free for you to spend in Skei. There is an optional excursion which travels to Nordfjord and visits the quaint village of Olden before travelling a further 20 kms along the magnificent Olden valley to the Briksdal Glacier, which is part of the Jostedal Glacier (487 sq.kms) - Europe’s largest glacier. After a day of sightseeing return to the Skei Hotel for dinner.

Day 6 - (Friday) Skei – Sandane – Skei

After breakfast at the hotel the choice is yours for either a day at leisure in Skei or book an optional excursion to Sandane & the Nordfjord Folk Museum. This excursion takes you from Skei to Klakegg, through the scenic Våtedal Valley to Breim and Sandane, past the thundering Eidsfossen falls to the Nordfjord Folk Museum and a visit to the old Gimmestad church which dates back to 1692. On the return journey we visit Reed where you can enjoy striking views of the Breim Lake, the Norwegian Horse centre and Byrkjelo. After dinner at the Skei Hotel, we enjoy coffee in Gamlestova, a 300 year old timber cottage on the hotel premises.

Day 7 - (Saturday) Skei – Norway in a Nutshell – Bergen

After breakfast at the hotel you will join a tour which takes you across the Gaular Mountain to Balestrand where you will join the famous “Norway in a Nutshell” excursion, which includes a cruise on the Sognefjord to Flåm (approx. 2 hrs). After the cruise there is a journey on the renowned Flåm Railway which spirals 900 metres up to Myrdal. The tour is completed by a train journey on the Bergen Railway to Bergen followed by dinner and an overnight stay at the Scandic Hotel Bergen City. Breakfast is served at the hotel on Sunday morning. End of tour.

Guests have the option of finishing this tour in Oslo instead of Bergen

After the incredible experience of the Flåm Railway guests join a train and travel “Across the Roof of Norway” (the Hardangervidda Mountain Plateau) to Oslo for overnight stay at the Hotel Continental in the city centre. There is breakfast at the hotel on Sunday morning.

Day 8 - (Sunday) Your Norway fjords holiday ends

Enjoy breakfast before transferring to the airport in time for your return flight to the UK. We hope you enjoyed exploring Norway on your fjord holiday.
