Day 1 -
Arriving Oslo - the capital of Norway

On arrival at Gardemoen airport, the frequent Airport Express Train (Flytoget) will take you to the Oslo Central Railway Station in just 20 minutes (transfer not included). Your accommodation at the Thon Hotel Opera is centrally located just across the street from the station (approximately 50 meters walk). Oslo is situated at the end of the beautiful Oslo fjord and is the largest city in Norway with its proximity to nature that few other capitals can provide. The afternoon is at your leisure and we recommend a visit to the National Art Gallery (free entrance), a walk through Karl Johannsgate, leading to the Royal Palace and a stroll along the Akerbrygge - the beautiful harbour area with its abundance of shops and restaurants. Overnight bed and breakfast at the Thon Hotel Opera.

Day 2 -
Oslo
|
After breakfast at the hotel, the day is at your leisure to explore the capital city. We suggest a visit to the famous and amazing Vigeland Sculpture Park, the Royal Castle, the City Hall, the Parliament Building (Stortinget) and a trip to Bygdøy to see some of the famous museums such as the Fram, Kon-Tiki and the Viking Ship museums (no entrances included). We also recommend a trip to the Holmenkollen ski jump arena, offering a fantastic view of the city and surrounding area. Other sights of interest are the Akershus Fortress, the National Art Gallery (free entrance) or the Munch museum (entrance not included). Overnight bed and breakfast at the Thon Hotel Opera.

Day 3 -
Oslo – Flåm Railway -Vik (train & boat)

Breakfast at the hotel. 08:11 hrs: Departure by train on the Oslo – Bergen Railway to Myrdal. 12:53 hrs: Arrival in Myrdal. 13:27 hrs: Departure from Myrdal to Flåm on the Flåm Railway. 14:25 hrs: Arrival in Flåm. 15:30 hrs: Departure from Flåm to Vik by 17:10 hrs: Arrival in Vik. Overnight bed and breakfast at the Hopstock Hotel.

Day 4 -
Vik – Bergen (boat)

Breakfast at the Hotel. 08:10 hrs: Departure from Vik to Bergen by ferry 14:20 hrs: Arrival in Bergen. Bergen is called the gateway to the fjords and it is the second largest city in Norway which is uniquely surrounded by 7 mountains and 7 fjords. We recommend taking a tour on your own including a visit of the famous Bryggen harbour with its gabled pack houses and the Hanseatic quarter. The Rosenkrantz tower and the Håkons hall are both very impressive buildings from the royal residency when Bergen was the political centre of Norway and well worth paying a visit. Overnight bed and breakfast at the Scandic Hotel Bergen City.

Day 5 -
Bergen
|
Following breakfast at the hotel, the day is at your leisure. We recommend a ride on the funicular to Mount Fløien where, weather permitting, you will have a spectacular view of the town and the fjords below. One can also visit the old Church of Maria -Mariakirken or you might choose to visit to the Bergen Aquarium, which exhibits one of the finest and most extensive collections of marine life in Europe, including outdoor pools with seals and penguins. Other sights of interest in the area are the Fantoft stave church, or the beautiful Lysøen island with the villa of the Norwegian violin-virtuoso, Ole Bull (no entrances included). Overnight bed and breakfast at the Scandic Hotel Bergen City or similar.

Bergen

Following breakfast at the hotel, transfer to the airport by taxi or bus for your return flight to the UK (transfer not included).
