Norway : Kirkenes Snowhotel

Located in the furthest corner of Northern Europe, just 1200 metres from the Arctic Sea, the Kirkenes Snow Hotel offers the ultimate Arctic experience. Built entirely out of snow each year, spacious and illuminated Snow suites are decorated with snow sculptures and have comfortable beds to ensure a good night’s sleep. The Snow Hotel is well insulated, so however low the outside temperature, the air within tends to maintain a steady minus five degrees Celsius. High quality sleeping bags and sheets are provided to ensure that you remain snug inside these cool conditions, there is also an Arctic Snow Bar where we can enjoy a nightcap before bed. We can visit the small reindeer farm in the grounds, to learn more about these hardy mammals and also see the hotel’s friendly team of Husky dogs.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Fly to Kirkenes

After arriving into Kirkenes make your own way to the Rica hotel

Day 2 - Your night at the snow hotel

1800 hours guests will be met at the Rica hotel. There is approx 15 minutes trip by kick sledge to the snow hotel. Dinner is served in a cosy Gabba restaurant, a typical wooden building from the Arctic. Overnight in a snowsuite. Breakfast and sauna after the overnighting. Kick sledge back to Rica hotel. Next to the snow hotel there are friendly reindeers and happy huskies greeting the guests to welcome them to the amazing winter experience. Meals included: Breakfast, Dinner

Days 3 to 4 - Days at leisure

These days are free to enjoy the many activities available. Meals included: Breakfast

Day 5 - Depart for home

Make your way to the airport for your departure home. Meals included: Breakfast

Arctic king crab safari

We guarantee the largest and freshest king crabs in the world. Join us for ice fishing with our snowmobiles and catch this giant that can reach 2 metres and weight up to 15 kilos. Approx 3hrs.

Add on swimming in the Barents sea.

After the king crab excursion there is a chance to add swimming in the Barents sea to your programme. Approx 30 minutes.

Arctic Snowmobiles

You meet your snowmobile guide at the hotel reception in Kirkenes. After a short drive to our snowmobile resort, you will receive all the protective clothing needed during this trip. The snowmobile trip takes you to the beautiful winter wilderness. 4 & 6 hr durations include small picnic lunch.

Husky safari in the arctic

Guide will pick you up from your hotel in Kirkenes and take you to the huskey area. You will get a short lesson on how to handle the eager huskies. Driving lesson is given and then we are ready to go! There will be 2 persons sharing one sled, one sitting and one driving. Short stops en route. After tours return to hotel. 4 & 5-6 hrs trips includes lunch.

Northern Lights tour with huskies

Transfer from Kirkenes with a guide up to the valley of Pasvik. Travel by huskies into the polar night on dog-sledges in stormy weather,clear starlit skies or under the dance of the Northern Lights. Wilderness evening meal served in a hut to the end of the evening. Approx 6hrs.

Search for the Northern Lights by snowmobile

Your guide takes you to our snowmobile resort. After a short driving instruction we will start the most interesting trip with the snowmobiles. We drive in the arctic wilderness, and if we are lucky enough, might see the most beautiful Northern Lights. Approx 2hrs.

Snowshoes walk in search of Northern Lights

We take snowshoes and head for the deep snow. The track is illuminated and prepared. Normal health conditions are required. Hot berry saft served en route. Approx 2hrs.
