Day 1 -
Arrive at Metsäkartano

Enjoy a scenic journey from the airport to the Metsäkartano hotel complex which will be your base for your week’s family winter activity holiday. Locate your room before sitting down to a delicious freshly prepared dinner in front of a roaring log fire. Spend the evening relaxing in the sauna or exploring the pristine surroundings.

Day 2 -
Snowshoeing, Net Fishing and Igloo Building

This morning, take part in a snowshoeing adventure through the snowy wilderness and learn how to master this ancient technique. Later, try your hand at net fishing in the nearby Yla-Keyritty Lake and see who can get the biggest catch. In the afternoon, learn how to construct a traditional igloo and together with your family, begin building your masterpiece.

Day 3 -
Igloo Building, Skiing and Curling

Today on your family winter activity holiday you can spend the morning finishing building your igloo. After lunch there is the opportunity to go skiing on some of the trails that surround Metsäkartano, giving you the chance to venture further into the snowy countryside. In the afternoon there is an exciting curling competition that is always fun for everyone.

Day 4 -
Kick Sledding, Ice Fishing and Horse Riding or Dog Sledding

The morning is spent kick sledding through the snow-covered forests where you can savour the sweet smell of pine trees and enjoy the tranquility and stillness. Following on from a spot of ice fishing on the lake after lunch, there is the choice to either take a leisurely horse ride through the countryside or a more energetic expedition on a dog sled over snowy plains.

Day 5 -
Baking and Indoor Activities

Your family winter activity holiday introduces you to archery and climbing this morning at the hotel. You will also get the chance to learn how to bake Karelian pies, a traditional Finnish delicacy that is similar to a pasty. In the afternoon there is the opportunity to take part in some competitive games of volleyball or basketball indoors.
