Volcanos are usually a mass of noise and volcanic mess, aren’t they? Well apparently a volcano erupted about 20 years ago in Reykjanes Ridge, a small area of land near Iceland, and no one noticed until now!
Volcano expert Ármann Höskuldsson has been studying the seafloor in this area from 1994 until the end of last year. He said ‘there were waves of seismic activity exactly in the area where we see changes.’
He then went on to say ‘It was the earthquake in this period, precisely in the area where we see changes in the landscape.’ He described this event as ‘quite remarkable’ given that there aren’t many eruptions in this area.
