Day 1 - Arrive in Vancouver
Fly in to Vancouver today for the start of your Canada Sunshine Coast Self Drive Holiday. Spend some time exploring this iconic city, whether that’s its natural highlights or cultural gems. Enjoy the stunning view of the city’s skyline, or the hotel’s herb garden, from your room tonight, as you settle in for the first night of your west coast adventure.
Day 2 - Vancouver to the Sunshine Coast
Pick up your hire car and drive down to Horseshoe Bay this morning and look forward to your first journey on the Canadian fjords, sailing to the Sunshine Coast. Take in the breathtaking views of the water, mountains, forests and coastal villages on your cruise as you pass through this scenically stunning region. Arrive at tonight’s accommodation: the Rockwater Secret Cove Resort and relax in this luxurious retreat, again treated to incredible views of the region.

Day 3 - Sunshine Coast
Enjoy a day to relax and explore at leisure in Canada on the Sunshine Coast Self Drive Holiday. Day 4 - Sunshine Coast to Quadra Island
Your journey continues today as you head to Earl’s Cove to board your ferry to Saltery Bay. Once again you can enjoy the stunning sights on the water and shores as you cross the fjord before arriving. Disembark the ferry and follow the coast down to the Powell River for today’s second ferry crossing, this time sailing across the Straight of Georgia to Vancouver Island. Travel north from here, towards to the Campbell River and, after a short ferry crossing, reach your destination for the night: Quadra Island.

Day 5 - Black Bear Watching Cruise to Desolation Sound
You have a real treat in store today on your Canada Sunshine Coast Self Drive Holiday: a zodiac cruise on the fjord in search of the magnificent Black Bears! Head out onto the water, enjoying the breathtaking views of the Toba Inlet, looking out for the famous Black Bears of the region. See them resting or foraging in the estuaries and experience an unforgettable sight of these creatures in their natural environment!
Day 6 - Quadra Island to Tofino
Leave Quadra Island by ferry today, returning to Vancouver Island and begin the south west journey to Tofino. Be sure to stop and get out the camera at Cathedral Grove, home to the 800 year old Douglas Fir and Cedar, and the Mars Water-Bombers at Sproat Lake. Journey on through Sutton Pass and the Sawtooth Range of the Cascade Mountains, enjoying the magnificent views of these sensational locations, before arriving in Tofino. We recommend breaking up today’s drive with a stop at the North Island Wildlife Recovery Association to see animals including eagles, owls and even Black Bears!

Day 7 - Explore Tofino
Make the most of a day to explore one of the most incredible locations in Canada on the Sunshine Coast Self Drive Holiday today. Enjoy a walk along the world-renowned Long Beach or set out into the rain forests, taking advantage of the well-maintained trails. In the afternoon, you’re taken out by boat on an unforgettable whale watching safari through the Clayoquot Sound! Look out for Grey Whales, Orcas, Sea Lions and Porpoises in the water and a range of birdlife overhead, including Tufted Puffins and Bald Eagles!
Day 8 - Tofino to Victoria
Head back to the east coast today before travelling south to the capital of British Columbia: Victoria. We suggest a stop for lunch at the mall in Lantzville to break up the day’s driving, but that’s entirely up to you. En route, you can look out for the artist community of Chemainus, with its mural covered exterior walls, and the ‘City of Totems’: Duncan. Be sure to take a look at the Quw’utsun’ Heritage Village to enjoy a unique insight into life on the coast, or visit the Duncan Indian Reserve for a taste of native culture!

Day 9 - Explore Victoria
Discover the capital of British Columbia today, famous for its turn-of-the-century architecture and stunning scenic surroundings. Explore the famous Butchart Gardens and relax as you walk around this beautiful, 50 acre show garden. If you’re in the mood to truly unwind, just find a nice café and enjoy some lunch as you look out over the breathtaking views of the city and beyond.
Day 10 - Victoria to Vancouver
Begin the final leg of your Canada Sunshine Coast Self Drive Holiday today as you head back to Vancouver. Drive to Shwartz Bay Ferry Terminal and board the ship for the crossing to Tsawwassen. Look out over the Gulf Islands as you cross the Straight of Georgia and enjoy this stunning sight of the Canadian fjords. Once you arrive it’s time to travel back down to Vancouver and drop off your hire car. Find a restaurant in the city and enjoy a delicious meal to commemorate your final night in Canada.

Days 11 to 12 - Explore Vancouver and Overnight Flight Home
