Day 1 - Fly to Vancouver
Fly from London to Vancouver and transfer to your comfortable accommodation. Why not enjoy a leisurely walk around the city this evening? Take a look at the fascinating sights of Vancouver before heading back to your hotel for a good night's sleep, ready for the first full day of your Trans-Canada Rail Holiday.
Day 2 - Vancouver to Kamloops (Rail)
Your Trans-Canada Rail Holiday gets underway today as you head to the station and board the one-of-a-kind Rocky Mountaineer Train. Your route for the day takes you through some of the region's most spectacular scenery, offering stunning views of Canada’s breathtaking landscapes. Travel through the lush fields of the Fraser River Valley and continue on under the magnificent peaks of the Coastal Mountains. Enter the Fraser Canyon and follow the Thompson River until you reach the gateway to the heart of British Columbia; Kamloops.Meals included:Breakfast, Lunch
Day 3 - Kamloops to Banff (Rail)
Set out on the second leg of your Rocky Mountaineer journey today as your Trans-Canada Rail Holiday heads on from Kamloops to Banff. Follow the South Thompson River to the enormous Shuswap Lake before reaching the completion point of the Canadian Pacific Railway at Craigellachie. Travel on to the snow-sheds, tunnels and stunning glaciers of Rogers Pass and on through the breathtaking Canadian landscapes to the Spiral Tunnels and across the Continental Divide until you arrive in Banff. Day 4 - Discover Banff by Land and Air
Begin your day in Banff with a sightseeing tour of the city, including the fascinating Hoodoos (intriguing rock formations created by centuries of exposure to the elements), a cable car ride to the top of Mount Sulphur and the Tunnel Mountain Drive, giving you absolutely amazing views of Bow Valley. Your Trans-Canada Rail Holiday continues with an unforgettable excursion later today as you take to the skies for the Rockies Heritage Heli Tour. Fly over the Bow Valley and Kananaskis and take in the sight of the magnificent Barrier Lake, Nakiska and Skogan Pass! Enjoy the unrivalled views of Canmore and the peaks of the Rockies as you learn all about the region’s First Nations on the ultimate Canadian discovery tour.
Day 5 - Banff to Lake Louise (Coach)
The adventure continues today as you enjoy a short drive through the Bow Valley to Lake Louise, the base for the next night of your Trans-Canada Rail Holiday. Aside from the journey, a special excursion is arranged for today: a private tour of the Yoho National Park! Begin with a visit to Moraine Lake before heading to the spectacular Valley of the Ten Peaks. Cross the Great Divide at the Kicking Horse Pass and discover the Takakkaw Falls in the Yoho Valley, a simply stunning view! This tour is perfect for photography enthusiasts as the magnificent scenery offers some of the best photo opportunities in the Rockies.
Day 6 - Lake Louise to Jasper (Coach)
Set out along the renowned Icefields Parkway today, one of North America’s most breathtaking routes. Discover the Columbia Icefield, an astonishing formation reaching a staggering 320 metres deep and covering an incredible 325 square kilometres; a fascinating location to see on your Trans-Canada Rail Holiday. Enjoy an Ice Explorer excursion on the Athabasca Glacier as well as a visit to Peyto Lake, the Crowfoot Glacier and Athabasca Falls. Top it all off as you visit the newly opened Glacier Skywalk where you'll experience awe-striking views through the glass floor which stands 280m above the ground. Days 7 to 9 - Your Journey to Toronto (Rail)
Relax in Jasper and enjoy the mountainous scenery before you begin the final stretch of your Trans-Canada Rail Holiday. Board the VIA Rail for an incredible train journey through Canada’s stunning countryside to Toronto. Your route will take you from your mountainous starting point in Jasper, through the Canadian prairies and plains before passing through Ontario’s breathtaking lake lands on the final day of this cross country adventure. Day 10 - Arrive in Toronto
Your train journey ends in Toronto this morning, leaving you with the rest of the day free in this incredible city. Why not enjoy a visit to one of the city’s many museums, including the Black Creek Pioneer Village which offers an unrivalled insight into the lives and culture of the early settlers that started the development of Toronto and Ontario. Alternatively you could explore some of the famous landmarks the city is home to such as the CN Tower and Old City Hall. Days 11 to 12 - The Niagara Falls and Journey Home
The train journey may be over, but your Trans-Canada Rail Holiday still has one more treat in store for you! Set sail on the world-renowned Maid of the Mist as you get up close to the thundering Niagara Falls. Feel the spray on your face as the ship’s Captain gets you as close as possible to the bottom of the Falls as you discover this iconic natural formation! After your tour of the Falls themselves, you can enjoy a deluxe buffet lunch at the Penthouse Restaurant before heading to Niagara-On-The-Lake, a fascinating little town filled with charming shops and an antique atmosphere.
Sadly, it’s time for you to depart after today’s tour. You’ll fly overnight back to the UK, hopefully taking with you plenty of incredible holiday snaps of the many Canadian highlights you discovered!
