Europe : Bear Watching

Travel to Europe for Bear Watching

Wildlife enthusiasts and photographers will be in their element with our Europe Bear Watching breaks.

These fabulous itineraries offer you the chance to see Brown Bears or Polar Bears in their natural habitat: a privilege that few of us are lucky enough to experience.

Take a look at our amazing wildlife holidays and choose the perfect break for you.

Brown Bears

Wonderful photo opportunities on our Europe Bear Watching breaks

Opt for one of our Europe Bear Watching holidays and travel to the Wild Taiga of Finland where you will discover a whole host of wildlife including reindeer, moose, lynx, wolverine and beaver. Here, in specialist hides, you will await the appearance of the stars of the show and use expert local knowledge to give you the best possible opportunity of spotting the Brown Bears.

A great choice for couples, groups and families, our Europe Bear Watching holidays offer a fascinating insight into the daily lives of the bears. There are visits to specialist wildlife centres, such as the Petola Nature Centre, to look forward to. Indeed, this centre even has a teddy bear area to entertain younger members of the family.

The hides we use on these holidays are very comfortable and well equipped. Overnight stays here are an absolute pleasure, particularly in the long days of summer when extended daylight hours mean you have even longer to enjoy your bear watching.

During your holiday in the Wild Taiga, you will have plenty of opportunity to experience other outdoor activities such as hiking, mountain biking, canoeing and fishing. And with the added bonus of a fly drive option on offer, you can even get out and about here and explore further afield on your Europe Bear Watching break.

Polar Bears

If you are looking for a different kind of experience, how about one of our breaks in Spitsbergen where you can discover the realms of the magnificent Polar Bear? This amazing island, in the north of Norway, is home to just 2500 people and an amazing 3000 Polar Bears - so the chances of spotting a bear during your time here are really pretty good!

Spitsbergen is also, of course, home to some other amazing wildlife including reindeer, Arctic Foxes, walrus and whales. And if you prefer your creatures a little tamer, this is a fabulous destination to explore on a husky sled.

Photography Paradise

Whichever destination you choose and whatever time of year you decide to travel, be sure to bring your camera as well as your binoculars. These holidays are a photographer’s dream. The landscapes are simply amazing and, as for the resident bears and other wildlife, the photo opportunities are unmissable. It’s a good idea to let the kids bring their cameras along too, youthful enthusiasm can often result in a shot that years of experience would otherwise miss.

A Place to Call Home

Although you may spend a great deal of your time on our Europe Bear Watching holidays in specialist hides, you’ll be glad to know that the accommodation on offer on these breaks is of a really good standard. After nights in the hide come home to a comfortable bed , great facilities and excellent service at your hotel. In Spitsbergen you will either be staying on a cruise ship or in the amazing Trapper’s Station – a fabulous replica of an old time Trapper’s hut where you get a real sense of life in the Arctic.
