Kakslauttanen Hotel and Igloo Village in Finland

With a beautiful snow-covered landscape dotted with thick forest and overlooked by clear skies, Finnish Lapland is a remarkable place for a holiday. Whether you are looking for a unique family trip, an exciting adventure break or a romantic honeymoon, the Mighty Fine Company can help you create your perfect holiday in this picturesque destination at the Kakslauttanen Hotel and Igloo Village. The resort is able to offer its guests a number of attractions, from a taste of the Arctic lifestyle to a range of exciting outdoor activities. Due to its northerly location by the Arctic Circle, the remote setting of the hotel and the clear night skies make it ideal for a possible sighting of the magnificent Northern Lights. The waves of green, yellow and red seem to dance across the darkened sky and only appear in the optimum conditions, making a sighting of the phenomena an amazing addition to any journey. However you choose to spend your time in this winter wonderland, with the high levels of customer service and careful planning provided by the Mighty Fine Company you can rest assured that your holiday at the Kakslauttanen Hotel in Finland will be unforgettable.

Unique and Comfortable Accommodation

During your stay at the Kakslauttanen Hotel in Finland you can choose to spend the night in an igloo made entirely out of glass or, depending on local weather conditions, snow!

A stay in a snow igloo is a unique arctic experience and with temperatures in the structure between - 3° C and -6° C, you are provided with a cosy sleeping bag, socks and a hood to keep you warm throughout the night.

If you would prefer the opportunity to watch out for the amazing Northern Lights from the comfort of your bed at Kakslauttanen, then a glass igloo is ideal. Created from thermal glass, the igloo retains its heat and does not frost over in extreme cold, resulting in un-interrupted views of the night sky and an increased chance of a sighting.

The remainder of your holiday at the Kakslauttanen Holiday Village is spent in a traditional log cabin which features a range of facilities for your comfort including a kitchenette, an individual shower and toilet, fireplace and private sauna. Available at further cost is the Queen Suite which has all the standard facilities of the log cabins with the addition of a full bathroom and outdoor hot tub. Newlyweds can enjoy the lavish comforts of the Honeymoon Turf Chamber.

Enjoy Your Surroundings

The Kakslauttanen Igloo Village offers its guests a number of enjoyable and interesting facilities. The resort caters for every holiday need and is home to the world’s largest smoke sauna, its own husky farm, an ice gallery, equipment rental and a souvenir shop. At meal times, there are four different restaurants at the Kakslauttanen Igloo Village where you can enjoy some authentic Lappish cuisine. Each restaurant has its own individual theme. Admire the traditional log cabin settings of the main restaurant, listen to the stories of the indigenous Sami people in the Kota restaurant or enjoy a drink at the ice bar in the snow restaurant.

The final restaurant is located in the Kakslauttanen smoke sauna, where you can order a selection of produce to be freshly cooked in front of you on an open fireplace. If you are staying at the Kakslauttanen Holiday Village for a family holiday, Santa’s Resort is located just a short distance away. The snow-covered winter landscape makes this attraction all the more magical for children and they will have the chance to visit the reindeer pen, enjoy biscuits and drinks with the elves and meet Santa himself. Also located close by is a reindeer farm where you can see the animals up close, discover traditional reindeer herding techniques and learn more about the Sami culture.

Optional Activities and Excursions

Whether you are looking for a refreshing break or a thrilling holiday, there are a variety of activities available for you to enjoy at the Kakslauttanen Igloo Village. Outdoor pursuits include reindeer sleigh rides, skiing, snowmobiling and husky safaris, where guests can learn how to control husky driven sleds before embarking on a journey across the snowy landscape. There are also more relaxing activities on offer at the Kakslauttanen Hotel such as ice carving, ice fishing and the chance to enjoy a soothing sauna, which can be followed by a swim in the resort’s Ice Hole if you are feeling particularly adventurous. As sightings of the Northern Lights are often possible within the resort’s surroundings, bus tours to see them are conducted on a regular basis. Should the Aurora Borealis appear, the bus is equipped with a panorama skylight to enhance your viewing pleasure. Whichever of the excursions and activities at the Kakslauttanen Holiday Village appeal to you the most, simply tell our friendly travel advisers and they will make arrangements to include them within your tailor-made holiday package.
