Great food, comfortable accommodation and a warm welcome ensures that your holiday in Lapland will be nothing short of exceptional. Our standard packages at Nellim run for four, five and seven days (though these can be tailored for individual requirements) and the itineraries are similar the packages we offer at the sister resort of Muotkan Maja:
Jouko and Mari Lappalainen have built an enviable reputation as some of Lapland's best hosts! The experienced team of guides and staff, mixed with one of Lapland's remotest and most picturesque locations makes their resorts one of the most desriable destinations to take part in the full range of Lapland's finest experiences; including snowmobiling, dog sledding, reindeer sledding and incredibly innovative Northern Lights hunts, including the Olokolo Aurora Sledge. The friendly atmosphere they have createdin this resort and it's sister resort, Muotkan Maja, make Jouko and Mari's Wilderness Lodges, favourite destinations with all their guests.
The Nellim Wilderness Hotel enjoys a prime position overlooking the beautiful Lake Inari in the far north of Finland within the region of Lapland and it is only 10 kilometres away from the Russian border. The hotel is also high above the Arctic Circle, meaning that it is graced with the presence of the Northern Lights during winter and the Midnight Sun during summertime. The nearest airport is in Ivalo, which is 30 kilometres away. Activities like husky sledding, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, fishing, cycling, hiking and boating are all possible during a stay at the hotel depending on the time of year, and there is also a traditional reindeer farm nearby.
When you have spent a day enjoying the fresh air of northern Finland, there is nothing better to come back to than a soothing sauna, a delicious home-cooked meal and a roaring log fire. The restaurant at the Nellim Wilderness Hotel serves traditional Lappish cuisine and tasty Sámi delicacies. There are also barbecue facilities for al fresco dining during the summer months and packed lunches are available for when you want to spend the entire day outdoors. Equipment such as skis, rowing boats and canoes are available to hire form the Nellim Wilderness Hotel and there is also a gift shop on site, which sells delightful handcrafted souvenirs.

Cabins and Log Suites
There is a wide variety of accommodation available at Nellim Wilderness Lodge. The various accommodations are spread over more than a dozen recently refurbished traditional Lappish buildings. Though the wilderness rooms are split over the three main buildings, there are a variety of cabins and log suites (large log cabins split into four apartments) eccentrically dotted around the grounds. These log cabins and suites offer a cosy and rustic taste of traditional Lappish accommodation. The cabins and suites are configured to provide options to almost all visitors, from singles and romantic couples through to larger family groups. Contact one of our friendly travel advisers for further details of what is available on 0333 800 2033.
Feature Aurora Accommodation
Nellim has an incredibly innovative portfolio of feature Aurora accommodation. The Aurora Bubbles and Aurora Kota's, at this resort, have been specially designed to ensure you have excellent opportunities to see the Aurora at night, from the comfort of your purpose built accommodation! Both the Bubbles and the Kota's are a little "Spartan" for us to recommend more than one night in them but they are incredibly cosy, offering the perfect shelter against the harshest elements of the Arctic night, while you scour the skies for a glimpse of the elusive Northern Lights. The quirky and innovative Bubbles are perfect for romantic couples, while the slightly roomier Kota's can comfortably accommodate a small family.
The comfortable guestrooms at the Nellim Wilderness Hotel feature rustic décor, with polished wooden floors and wood panelling on the walls. Each of the bedrooms is en suite and enjoys views of the wilderness of Lapland. Some even have their own private saunas. Additionally, the hotel has four cosy apartments with open fireplaces, kitchenettes, saunas and Jacuzzi bathtubs. For extra special holidays, there is the Honeymoon Cabin, the Lakeside Cabin and the Lusma and Nuora Cabins, all of which are traditionally furnished and feature private saunas.
