Location

Situated amongst the pristine natural world of north eastern Finland, the Rukan Salonki chalets enjoy a prime position beside the idyllic Salonkijärvi Lake. The nearest airport is in Kuusamo, which is only a 20 minutes’ drive away. Nearby is the charming ski resort of Ruka, where there are plenty of shops, bars and restaurants. The surrounding forests are ideal for taking long, leisurely hikes, while the lake lends itself to canoeing and fishing. In winter, guests can take advantage of the network of trails from right outside Rukan Salonki, which are perfect for cross country skiing and snowmobiling.

Hotel Facilities

There is a whole host of activities available to guests who stay at the Rukan Salonki chalets and all of the equipment can be hired there, including mountain bikes, snowshoes, skis, rowing boats and fishing tackle. Rukan Salonki is keen to promote the wellbeing of its guests and there are various pampering facilities available, such as a traditional sauna, an ice sauna and a range of massage and beauty treatments. The onsite Restaurant Kultala seats around 50 people and serves authentic Finnish cuisine such as reindeer and freshly caught salmon

Rooms

There are 12 inulidual chalets at Rukan Salonki, ranging from basic to exclusive and luxurious. They are made from thick, robust deadwood and are typical of the Finnish style of building. Each of the chalets has its own roaring log fire and many have a private sauna. The cosy interior is furnished with decorative pieces that reflect Finnish traditions and there are multiple bedrooms inside, which give guests ultimate privacy when staying in groups. A crucial feature of the Rukan Salonki chalets is the drying room, where wet items of clothing can be dried out after a day spent outdoors. With magnificent views over the lake and the countryside, it will be hard to leave Rukan Salonki!
