New for winter 2015, this exciting Northern Lights voyage makes as much as possible of the Hurtigruten route within the Arctic Circle.
DAY 1 Bodø
Fly to Bodø and transfer to the quayside and your waiting Hurtigruten ship. Sail across the Vestfjord towards the incredible Lofoten Islands and prepare for your fi rst night of hunting the lights!
DAY 2 Tromsø, the Gateway to the Arctic
After early calls at Harstad and Finnsnes we pull into Tromsø mid-afternoon for a 4-hour stay. Excursions available here include the ever popular dog sledging. Book this excursion before you travel as it frequently sells out!
DAY 3 The North Cape
Explore the wild and rugged North Cape on an optional excursion from Honningsvåg. As we cross to Kjøllefjord, we pass the illuminated sacred Sámi site of Finnkirka, a rock formation that resembles a church.
DAY 4 Kirkenes, the voyage turning point
Shortly after breakfast we arrive in Kirkenes, the end of the Voyage North. Before turning south again, we have a few hours during which you are able to take part in numerous winter excursions, including the Snow Hotel,snowmobiling and dog sledging!
DAY 5 Hammerfest
A very early breakfast call at Honningsvåg precedes our arrival at the UNESCO-listed Hammerfest, the world’s northernmost town. Book an excursion to fi nd out how this town is at the forefront of pioneering energy production. We arrive in Tromsø shortly before midnight where it’s possible to enjoy a concertat the iconic Arctic Cathedral.
DAY 6 Vesterålen and Lofoten Islands
With plenty of excursions and interesting stops available today, the highlights for most are undoubtedly the daylight sailing through the narrow Raftsund, the Vesterålen and Lofoten Islands! Overnight in Svolvær.
DAY 7 Svolvær
Today in Svolvær we take you west by road to the picturesque fi shing hamlet of Nusfjord. After lunch and refreshments, we make our way to the Lofotr Viking Museum where we meet the chieftain and the largest reconstruction of a Viking longhouse. Overnight in Svolvær.
DAY 8 Bodø and flight back
An early fast ferry will take you to Bodø where we have time to visit the Air Force Museum and have lunch before transferring you back to the airport for your fl ight back to the UK.
