Day 1 - Arrive in Reykjavík
Arriving at Reykjavík Airport, collect your hire car and drive to your overnight accommodation in the city. Standard accommodation will be booked for you throughout this trip, speak to one of our friendly travel team for details of the upgrades available.
If you are eager to explore before you set off on your Iceland Fly Drive, why not sample some of Reykjavik's lively nightlife or take a walk around the local area? Visit the statue of Leif Ericson - considered the first European to land in North America, see the spot where the Cold War finally ended or maybe even take to the water to see the pods of whales that congregate off the coast. Reykjavik is a truly amazing place and you'll find plenty to amuse and delight here.

Day 2 - Depart Reykjavík
Set out on your Iceland Fly Drive today and travel through the magnificent fjords. You will have chance to discover the rich history of Borgarfjörður at the Museum of Icelandic Settlement in Borgarnes. Hot springs and crashing waterfalls can be found peppered across the countryside and are well worth visiting during your scenic road trip. Don't miss Delidartunguhver - Europe's most powerful hot spring - or the Hraunfossar and Barnafoss falls. You are heading up the West Coast towards Grundarfjörður where you will spend the night.

Day 3 - Snæfellsnes Peninsula
There is so much to see and do on today’s leg of your Iceland Fly Drive; witness the enormous Snæfellsjökull glacier and several charming fishing villages or if you prefer, enjoy a boat trip among pretty islands and look for some of the abundant birdlife. Today is the perfect opportunity to explore the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, famous as the setting for Jules Verne's Journey to the Centre of the Earth. How little or how far you travel today is upto you! Your overnight is in Grundarfjörður.Meals included:Breakfast
Day 4 - Skagafjörður
As you venture North on your Iceland Fly Drive, you will reach the impressive Grábrók Volcano where you can climb to its summit and look into the crater below. Within the surrounding valley you will find some fascinating turf houses and a turf church. Akureyri at the mouth of Eyjafjörður will be your base for this night of the coastal road trip.

Day 5 - Eyjafjörður to Mývatn
The longest fjord in Iceland, Eyjafjörður is situated in the north of the country amid breathtaking landscapes. Perhaps visit the town of Akureyri on your road trip and go hiking on one of the scenic tracks or take a ferry from Hrísey Island and go in search of Arctic seabirds. Afterwards, as you continue along the north coast during your Iceland Fly Drive you will come to Goðafoss Waterfall before finally reaching the volcanic Lake Mývatn, which is well known for its rich birdlife. During your stay you can walk around the lava pillars and pseudocraters, or journey to Húsavík which is located close by.

Day 6 - East Coast Adventure
Leaving Lake Mývatn, drive through bumpy lava plateaus and vast desert as you head for the east fjords, perhaps stopping at Hengifoss and Lögurinn Lake en route.
This beautiful East fjord area offers some fabulous hiking trails through the mountains where you can discover local wildlife and admire the tremendous views. There are also pretty fishing ports which are great for taking a relaxing stroll around or sampling some of the fresh seafood. Tonight you will stay on the east coast of Iceland, travelling in the footsteps of the Elves.

Day 7 - Vatnajökull National Park
Head south towards, Europe’s largest glacier, Vatnajökull lies within this remarkable region where you can enjoy ice climbing or hiking on the glacier to get a true sense of its enormity. In fact, this astonishing natural feature is the largest glacier in Europe, with a surface area of 8300 square metres! For an unforgettable experience, sail out onto the glacial lagoon and weave between meringue-like icebergs. Later, your Iceland Fly Drive continues to Skaftafell National Park where Svartifoss Waterfall tumbles down the sides of large lava columns. Stay overnight in the Skaftafell area.

Day 8 - South Coast
The south coast of Iceland is immersed in natural beauty and the Laki lava field and rushing falls that you will see on today’s journey provide a striking backdrop for your Iceland Fly Drive. Walk along the black sand beaches before retiring to your accommodation for the evening.

Day 9 - Þjórsárdalur Valley
This wonderful valley has been shaped by nature over thousands of years and, as such, is filled with fascinating sights. Learn about the Viking history of the farm at Stöng, see the unusual rock formations that have been created by volcanic activity, and visit Hekla, one of Iceland’s most active volcanoes.

Day 10 - The Golden Circle
Before your Iceland Fly Drive leads you back to Reykjavík, a Golden Circle tour is a requisite on any holiday to Iceland as it comprises the country’s most iconic phenomena. You can take your time exploring each of the three sites which include the powerful Geysir Hot Springs, Gullfoss Waterfall and Þingvellir National Park, a listed UNESCO World Heritage Site where the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates meet. This unique geological wonder is the only place in the world where it's possible to go from Europe to America in a single step! Return to Reykjavík for the next two nights.

Day 11 - Reykjavík
It’s no wonder Reykjavík is the capital of Iceland as its culture and chic urbanity curiously complement the extraordinary landscapes that surround it. You can spend today taking in the main sights or pay a visit to the famous Blue Lagoon which is cloaked in clouds of hot steam. There are plenty of restaurants located around the centre, so why not celebrate the final night of your Iceland Fly Drive with a traditional meal?

Day 12 - Return Flight
After spending your last night in the lively capital, drop off your rental car and check in for your flight home. The past two weeks are sure to have been an experience you'll treasure forever.
