    Arrive in Madagascar's capital city today, you will be greeted at the airport by a guide and taken to the Pavillion de L'Emyrne. This boutique-style hotel has just 12 rooms and was originally built as a private residence 80 years ago. Found in the heart of Antananarivo, this up-market accomodation is the perfect place to spend the first night of your Luxury Madagascar Holiday.

  • Day 2 - Antananarivo - Mandrare River Camp

    Antananarivo - Mandrare River Camp

    Return to the airport and fly to Fort Dauphin on the southeast coast of the island. Enjoy lunch before we head westward to Antandroy Spiny Forest. On this stretch of the Luxury Madagascar Holiday you will see the stunning and diverse landscapes that range from rise paddies, exotic plateaus and sisal plantations. There will be plenty of time for you to familiarise yourself with your surroundings when we arrive at Mandrare River Camp, your luxurious private tent accommodation for the next three nights of your adventure, complete with en-suite facilities, solar water heating and solar power for night time light and delicious cuisine, made by French-trained chefs.

    Mandrare River Camp Activities

    We start today with breakfast overlooking the river. We later visit the sacred Antandroy forest and wade to the other side of the river to spot birds and lemurs. Discover the sacred tombs of the Antandroy ancestors and listen to stories about their culture and worship. We return to the camp for lunch then you can either relax at the river or enjoy one of the many activities available, whether that's a trip to Lake Anony to see the giant sand dunes, experience the touching sunset over the Baobab trees or visit a local village and school to get an insight into the culture of Madagascar on your break.

    Mandrare River Camp Activities

    Today on the Luxury Madagascar Holiday you can explore more of the surrounding scenery at the camp and activities can be tailored to suit your interests. With permission and accompaniment from one of the local chiefs, your guide can lead you into the nearby forests and teach you about the flora and fauna of the area as you explore this breathtaking natural paradise on an unforgettable nature tour.

    After breakfast we drive to Fort Dauphin, this pretty town sits surrounded by green hills, sandy beaches and clear seas, making it a popular destination for surfers and the perfect place to relax on your Luxury Madagascar Holiday. Enjoy lunch at a beach restaurant before settling into the top-quality Kaleta Hotel or heading out to explore the breathtaking local attractions, including the unforgettable sights of the town and the bays from Saint Louis Peak.

  • Day 6 - Lokaro and the St Luce Reserve

    Lokaro and the St Luce Reserve

    Today begins your kayaking experience on the Luxury Madagascar Holiday, take in the stunning natural beauty of south east Madagascar as you set out for Evatra this morning, enjoying lunch on the banks of the mangroves and a pleasant walk to Lokaro.

    St Luce Reserve sits on its own peninsula, separated from the mainland by river mouths. The reserve is home to some of the last few coastal forest in south east Madagascar and was established to protect this unique and beautiful environment. There are no people or villages found on the reserve, just verdant forests, white sand beaches and a stunning array of wildlife, including lemurs, sea tutles and crocodiles! Your accommodation for the next few nights steps away from the luxurious bases used on the prior night of the break, you will stay in comfortable but authentic bush camps with spacious, three-man tents.

  • Day 7 - Belaveno and the St Luce Reserve

    Belaveno and the St Luce Reserve

    Today we head north, through the forest and mangroves. The river runs alongside the forest and wetlands, home to 18km of breathtaking beaches. Set out for a paddle this morning before walking on to a secluded beach for relaxing lunch. After you've eaten you can take some time to unwind in this pristine setting, soaking up the sun or exploring the beautiful surroundings, before continuing on your Luxury Madagascar Holiday with a kayaking trip to Belaveno.

  • Day 8 - Ocean Camp and St Luce Reserve

    Ocean Camp and St Luce Reserve

    Get the day started with an early start and heading back to our travels along the river. Follow the littoral forest through the wetlands and enjoying the stunning sights and sounds of this unrivalled natural escape. After lunch we'll continue on to a large lake before heading into the forest in search of fruit bats. You're in for a real treat tonight on your Luxury Madagascar Holiday as you set out on a night walk to see Mouse, Dwarf and Woolly Lemurs in the forest, observing their night activities for a fascinating woldlife discovery.

    Our kayaking adventure along the river ends with us paddling to Manafaify Beach and Rainforest Lodge this morning. Enjoy a barbeque in the beach and a well deserved back massage to help you unwind after your kayking journey before settling in to watch the sun set over the bay.

  • Days 10 to 12 - Activities at Manafaify

    Activities at Manafaify

    Over the next few days you'll have ample opportunity to relax and explore on your Luxury Madagascar Holiday, you can wander around this breathtaking location, soaking up the views of the bay and enjoy a wide range of activities. Choose from kayaking adventures in the mangroves, early morning boat trips to see the array of birdlife or day and night walks in the rainforest to see the five local species of lemur! Between June and December you can even try whale watching, looking for these oceanic giants from a 15ft observation tower. If something a bit more active is your preference, set out snorkelling in the bay and nearby cove or, for a taste of culture, pay a visit to the local vilage and school. Of course, your final night is spent in style as you return to the elegant Pavillion de L'Emyrne to enjoy a mouth-watering farewell dinner and rest after your adventure in your luxurious room.
