Our amazing 12 day Astronomy Cruise invites you to discover the night sky and the awesome Northern Lights. Journey to remote regions where some of the highest levels of Aurora activity have been recorded and learn all about the science behind the lights with daily astronomy lectures from your expert guides.
Accompanied by either Ian Ridpath, editor of the Oxford Dictionary of Astronomy, or Aurora expert Dr. John Mason, you are sure to have an unforgettable and enlightening experience. Day 1 - Depart Bergen
Board your ship in Bergen and set sail for Ålesund at the start of your Astronomy Cruise. Familiarise yourself with the ship and relax in its comfortable lounges. Tonight, the hunt for the Aurora begins!Meals included:Dinner
Day 2 - Arrive in Ålesund
Arriving early in the morning, there will be ample time to explore this delightful, Art Nouveau town. Witness its striking and unusual architecture as you explore its centre and learn about its history at the local museum.

Day 3 - Trondheim
This wonderful, medieval city has a rich, colourful history which is evident in its distinctive buildings. Nidaros Cathedral is an astonishing piece of architecture and is definitely a must-see on your Astronomy Cruise. Trondheim was Norway’s first capital and, although many parts are contemporary, it has still clung on to its historic charm.

Day 4 - Lofoten Islands
One of the highlights of the Astronomy Cruise is the crossing of the Arctic Circle as the ship heads for Bodø. Arriving in Svolvær, the capital of the pretty Lofoten Islands, you can visit the Viking Museum and find out about this beautiful archipelago. If you prefer, walk around the colourful fishermen’s cabins, traditionally known as ‘rorbuer’, or go in search of some of the diverse wildlife that inhabits these parts.

Day 5 - Tromsø
Make the most of the ship’s facilities as we travel to Tromsø on the Astronomy Cruise or stand out on deck and absorb the breathtaking panoramas that surround you. Tromsø is the capital of Arctic Norway and one of the most popular Northern Lights viewing locations. Walk around the Northern Lights Planetarium and soak up the cultured ambience of this cosmopolitan city. Enveloped by the snow-capped Lyngen Alps and home to the northernmost university and cathedral, Tromsø is a vibrant and interesting destination on your Astronomy Cruise.Meals included:Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 6 - Honningsvåg
Following a call at Hammerfest, your Astronomy Cruise continues to Honningsvåg. This quaint fishing village is peppered with characteristic wooden buildings, framed by pretty fjords and tumbling waterfalls.
Tonight, put all your new found, astronomical knowledge to good use as you raise your eyes skywards in search of the Aurora.Meals included:Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 7 - Kirkenes
As your Astronomy Cruise continues to Kirkenes, you will notice the scenery and sea life becoming even more dramatic. There are several excursions to enjoy in Kirkenes; visit the Russian border, call in on the beautiful SnowHotel or ride a thrilling snowmobile over icy landscapes. At Kirkenes, the ship turns around and heads back towards the Arctic Circle on the voyage south. Will tonight be the night you see the Northern Lights?Meals included:Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 8 - Tromsø
After calling at Hammerfest, arrive in Tromsø where you can experience the magic of the Midnight Concert at the magnificent Arctic Cathedral. Will nature's own light show accompany the music and turn a fabulous night into one you'll remember forever?Meals included:Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 9 - Lofoten Islands
Today, your Astronomy Cruise negotiates the stunningly beautiful part of the Norwegian coastline that is home to the Lofoten Islands.
Keep an eye on the inky sky in case the Northern Lights make an appearance, casting an ethereal glow over the majestic peaks here. Tonight we arrive at Stamsund.Meals included:Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 10 - Rørvik
Cross the Arctic Circle again today and pass the celebrated Seven Sisters mountain range which is steeped in myths and legends. A trip to the award-winning Rørvik Maritime Museum will teach you about life in this charming port town, whilst your on board astronomy lecture will prepare you for tonight's potential Aurora sighting.Meals included:Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 11 - Trondheim
Today you arrive in medieval Trondheim. There will be plenty of time for you to discover the famous Nidaros Cathedral before setting sail once again.
As tonight is the last night of your cruise, let's hope the Aurora gives you a good send off with a fabulous display this evening.Meals included:Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 12 - Bergen
Sadly, your Astronomy Cruise concludes today. Your ship passes some simply beautiful scenery as it returns to Bergen where you will disembark and catch your flight home. With a little luck, you'll be travelling home with photographs of the Aurora as well as some truly great memories of your sightings!Meals included:Breakfast
