Our five day, Northern Lights Autumn tour lets you discover the culture and wildlife of this spectacular area as well as enjoying fabulous Aurora adventures. Vesteralen in Autumn is sheer joy. The colourful landscapes provide a perfect backdrop for wildlife watching and, after months of daylight, the dark evenings return to create a fitting canvas for the Aurora. The locals know everything there is to know about the Northern Lights and, if your hosts feel there are better chances of seeing the Aurora by heading away from your accommodation, they will be more happy to take you to the best spots.
Each day of your Northern Lights Autumn tour is packed with new experiences and pleasures. From the moment you arrive, you will be finding out about local culture, exploring the natural beauty and generally immersing yourself in the Sami way of life. You will hear about Sami traditions from a farming family, set out by night on Northern Lights safaris, learn how to photograph wildlife from a seasoned professional, discover the joys of hiking and even, if you like, go kayaking.

Day 1 - Arrival and Reindeer Farm
Not wasting a precious moment of your Northern Lights Autumn break, you’ll be transferred straight from the airport to a reindeer farm where a Sami family will tell you all about the local way of life before taking you out into the wilderness to see the reindeers rutting.
Having checked into your accommodation you will have a talk on the Northern Lights and taught the best way to photograph them in preparation for your nightly excursions (conditions permitting) to the best Aurora viewing spots. You can even ask to be woken up, should the lights appear when you are sleeping.Meals included:Dinner
Day 2 - Nature Photography and Eagle Safari
A fascinating photography workshop kicks off the first full day of your Northern Lights Autumn tour. You’ll practice photographing wildlife and landscapes before you join an eagle and fjord safari to try out your new skills. The resident White-Tailed Eagles will come amazingly close to the boat in search of fish and, if you are lucky, you may come across other wildlife such as seals, sea otters and perhaps even whales.Meals included:Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 3 - Outdoor Experience and Hiking
This morning on your Northern Lights Autumn tour, there’s a fabulous hiking tour to look forward to. During the day you’ll learn about navigation, knots and abseiling, wilderness cooking, fire-making and the ethics of exploring the wilderness. A real back to basics experience, this excursion is ideal for the wannabe adventurer.Meals included:Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 4 - Meet the Locals or Kayaking
There’s a big decision to make today on your Northern Lights Autumn tour: island culture or kayaks?
Choose island culture and you’ll set out on a mini bus tour of the coastline, arriving at a small fishing village where you’ll find out all about the local lifestyle.
Opt for kayaking and after a ‘how to’ session on the fjord near Ringstad, you’ll take to the water to watch birds, otters and seals in the safety of the waters around the smaller islands.Meals included:Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 5 - Departure
One final treat on your Northern Lights Autumn tour. After breakfast, the resident photographer will show you a presentation of the best images captured during your stay. Sadly, however, it is then back to the airport for your flight home. What wildlife did you see during your break? Were you fortunate enough to spot the Aurora?
