Early risers will have the chance to enjoy the breathtaking sight of Nordfjord before heading out to open sea as your journey continues to Ålesund. Built on a series of islands across the entrance to the world famous Geirangerfjord and destroyed by fire during the early 20th century, this iconic town was rebuilt in Art Nouveau style. Nowadays it is a world centre for everything Art Nouveau, or Jugendstil as it is known in Norway. From here, our Norwegian Discovery Cruise ventures past staggering 800m cliffs and waterfalls on its way to the unbelievable, UNESCO-listed Geirangerfjord. Be sure to bring your camera as today's voyage promises a once-in-a-lifetime sight!

  • Day 3 - Trondheim

History lovers are in for another treat today as the Norwegian Discovery Cruise docks in Trondheim. The former capital of Norway and a destination offering historic discoveries at every turn, this is one of the undoubted highlights of the voyage. Take in the city views from the Old Town Bridge, dating back to 1861, before heading on the iconic Nidaros Cathedral. Norway's largest Gothic ediface and oldest example of medieval architecture, the cathedral is a must-see for visitors to Trondheim.

The sheer cliffs of North Cape drop over 300 metres to where the Arctic and Atlantic Oceans meet and are bathed in the Midnight Sun between the 14th of May and the 31st of July, ensuring a spectacular view for all visitors. Yet another coastal highlight is uncovered today as you sail past the Finnkirka rock formation, a fascinating feature that once served as an ancient sacrificial site for the indiginous Sámi people.

  • Day 7 - Kirkenes

The vistas and sea life become more dramatic as your Norwegian Discovery Cruise approaches Kirkenes, just a few kilometres from the Russian border and the Sami communities of Northern Finland.
