Day 1 - Your Tromso Northern Lights Trip Begins
Begin your Tromso Northern Lights trip, travelling on a direct flight from London Gatwick. Once in Tromso you will take the Flybus to your three star, harbour front hotel. Upon arrival, unpack, ready to begin your Nordic adventure. Depending on your time of arrival, you may want to start with a walk around the city to get your bearings and familiarise yourself with Tromso’s history and culture.
Day 2 - Full on Northern Lights Chase
With daytime hours free to sample the optional (chargeable) excursions detailed on day three, today's highlight on your Tromso Northern Lights trip is a magnificent six hour Northern Lights Chase.
This excursion is thoroughly planned over the 48 hours leading up to your adventure. The organisers do all the research and leg work to ensure they take you to the optimum spots to view the Aurora. Travelling to remote locations, with pitch black skies, lit only by the brightest of shooting stars, you will be accompanied by professional photographers who will capture the Aurora and even photograph you against the backdrop of the Northern Lights. They will also help you to set up your camera and get the best shots of the magnificent Aurora. All of this comes with the added attraction of hot chocolate and cookies - who could ask for more?Meals included:Breakfast, Dinner
Day 3 - Optional Activities
The advantage of this Tromso Northern Lights break is that you have a choice of which activities or excursions you wish to indulge in and when. For the more dynamic explorer there is a variety of exhilarating pursuits ranging from horse riding to husky sledding. However, if you want to experience Tromso at a more leisurely pace, you can sail along the breathtaking coast on a local ferry. Ultimate Northern Lights Chase
The Tromso Friluftsenter is a coastal farm located on the northern part of Kvaløya which is also known as Whale Island. The dark skies and uninterrupted views make this an ideal setting to see the Northern Lights in Tromso. If the weather is favourable, we will stay here to wait for the Northern Lights to appear, however, if the weather is changeable, we will drive around to track down the phenomena.
Lyngen Snowmobile Safari
This outstanding snowmobile safari follows a variety of trails in the foothills of the Lyngen Alps. You will be astounded by the breathtaking views of the fjords and the snowy landscape here. Hopefully you will get the chance to witness the Northern Lights in Tromso. (Please note: Snowmobile drivers must have a full and valid driving licence)
Dog Sledding Adventure with a Traditional Lunch
This is a great opportunity to experience the exquisite Scandinavian landscapes on a husky sled and go in search of the Northern Lights in Tromso. A staggering 240 friendly husky dogs will welcome you on this exciting adventure before you ride along snowy tracks where you will see amazing views of fjords and ice-capped mountains. This trip is suitable for all ages and, you can even drive the dogs yourself. A traditional hot meal is included in the trip to warm you up after your Arctic journey.
The Cable Car
Take a ride on the cable car to Mount Storsteinen or Big Rock Mountain. This iconic Norwegian cable car allows you to take in amazing, panoramic views and enjoy great photographic opportunities. The heated lounge is open daily and the café, open at weekends, serves delicious hot chocolate and waffles to complete your trip. What better way to look for the Northern Lights in Tromso?
Venture out in search of the mighty Humpback and Orca Whales that frequent the waters around Tromsø. Between late November and early January these magnificent species migrate to the cooler waters of the Arctic. Day 4 - Tromso Northern Lights Break: Departure
This morning there's time to take your final photographs and pick up a few souvenirs before you leave this amazing city this afternoon, at the end of your Tromso Northern Lights break.
