Witness the stunning fjords of Norway, the timeless beauty of the Norwegian countryside and the wonders of Stockholm, Helsinki and St Petersburg as you travel by road, rail and sea.

This simply stunning, 14 day adventure takes you to all of the major attractions on your featured route. First, you'll admire the scenic beauty of the Norwegian countryside, taking in stunning waterfalls and majestic mountains from road, rail and fjord. You'll experience the local culture and way of life as you visit small towns and villages, meeting the people and exploring hidden gems. And, when it's time to leave Norway behind, you'll spend time getting to know some of the world's most famous cities, visiting landmarks aplenty in Sweden, Finland and Russia.

This Fjords and Russia holiday is a fascinating journey of discovery, each day brings new joys and wonderful experiences. From an amazing journey on the Flam Railway in Norway to a visit to the Hermitage Art Museum in Russia, this holiday offers a real feel for the culture and history of each place you visit.

  • Day 1 - Arrive in Oslo

    Transfer from the Oslo Gardermoen Airport to your hotel where your Fjords and Russia Holiday guide will meet you. You'll enjoy dinner and an overnight stay in the city centre, Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel, close to the Karl Johan shopping street.

  • Day 2 - Oslo - Eidfjord

    Enjoy breakfast before departing Oslo. Drive via Hønefoss, along the beautiful Halling Valley, to Geilo where you’ll be treated to a delicous buffet lunch at the Bardøla Mountain Hotel. Afterwards, cross the Hardanger Mountain Plateau to Fossli, stopping off at the remarkable, 180 metre Voringsfoss Waterfall- the highest in Norway. Descend the captivating Mabodal Canyon to the picturesque Hardanger Fjord. After a short ferry crossing, followed by a drive around the Hardangfjord, you will arrive at your hotel. Tonight, on your Fjords and Russia Holiday, you'll dine and stay at the Hotel & Resort Vøringfoss, perfectly situated on the banks of the fjord.

  • Day 3 - Eidfjord - Bergen

    Eidfjord - Bergen

    Start today's section of your Fjords and Russia Holiday with a scenic tour along the remarkable Hardanger Fjord, renowned for its many fruit orchards. You'll travel through the towns of Øystese and Norheimsund to the charming city of Bergen. You will then have a two hour tour of the area, stopping off at the fascinating Fish and Flower Market, the famous Bryggen Harbourand the old Hanseatic Quarter. There’s also a chance for you to get a bird’s eye view of the cityscape and fjords below as you ride the funicular to the peak of Mount Floien.

  • Day 4 - Bergen - Flam - Balestrand

    Bergen - Flam - Balestrand

    Today, on your Fjords and Russia Holiday, you will bid farewell to Bergen as you travel, via Dale, to Voss. From here, transfer to Mydral where you’ll board a train and travel along the famous Flåm railway line, experiencing stunning views of mountainous scenery and tumbling waterfalls along the way. Afterwards, board a sightseeing boat for a two hour cruise along the narrow Aurlands and Naeroy Fjords, both branches of the Sognefjord- the longest and deepest fjord in the world! From the sun deck or the comfortable lounge, you can enjoy spectacular views of glistening waterfalls, snow-clad mountain tops and a whole host of flora and fauna. Disembark in Gudvangen and continue, by coach, across the Vika mountains to Vangsnes. Take a short ferry crossing across the waters to Balestrand where you’ll settle for the night. Stay at the Kvikne's Hotel which offers spectacular views of the fjords and mountains nearby.

  • Day 5 - Balestrand - A Day in the Fjords

    Balestrand - A Day in the Fjords

    Your Fjords and Russia Holiday gives you a little freedom today as you enjoy some leisure time in Balestrand. Why not sit back and relax on the hotel terrace, taking in the fresh mountain air whilst enjoying the picturesque scenery? Perhaps you want to take part in some local activates, if so you could rent a bike or rowing boat from the hotel or, even, embark on a hiking expedition through the mountains. If you’re looking to explore the area, we recommend a visit to the local aquarium and art gallery or a walking tour of the city.

  • Day 6 - Balestrand - Geiranger

    Balestrand - Geiranger

    Enjoy a real treat today, on your Fjords and Russia Holiday, with a scenic tour along the northern side of the fjord to Sogndal. Travel by road to Fjaerland, stopping off at the awe-inspiring Jostedal Glacierand the world-famous Briksdal Glacier. Upon arrival at the latter, enjoy a traditional Norwegian lunch in sight of the glacier. The tour will then continue, via Loen and Stryn, to the quaint village of Hellesylt. From here, board a ferry for an hour long cruise along the stunning Geirangerfjordone of the most impressive in the world! During the cruise, keep your eyes peeled for the glorious Bridal Veil and Seven Sisterswaterfalls. Tonight, you'll dine and stay at the excellent Union Hotel, which overlooks Geirangerfjord.

  • Day 7 - Geiranger - Oslo

    Geiranger - Oslo

    Begin your day at the top of the famous Serpentine Road where you’ll take in some simply breathtaking views of the fjord below. Then, cross the Grotli Mountains to Lom where you’ll find a 14th century stave church. Travel via Lake Vaga, on your Fjords and Russia Holiday, before descending the beautiful Gudbrands Valley to the fascinating town of Lillehammer where you will stop for lunch. Later, coninute your journey alongside Norway’s largest lake, Mjøsa, back to Oslo and Holmenkollen, home of the world-famous ski jump.

  • Day 8 - Oslo - Stockholm

    Oslo - Stockholm

    Say ‘farvel to Norway and ‘hallå’ to Sweden today as your Fjords and Russia Holiday continues across the border. Tuck into lunch in Karlstad, on Lake Vanern before continuing your journey through forests, past glistening lakes, until you reach Sweden’s capital. Stay in the luxurious, centrally located Clarion Hotel Sign tonight.

  • Day 9 - Stockholm

    Stockholm

    Today, the Fjords and Russia Holiday itinerary starts with a four hour, guided tour of the city. The Royal Palace, Parliament Buildings, Cathedral and the Royal Theatre are just a handful of the fascinating attractions which you’ll visit. You will also have the chance to meander along the narrow cobbled streets of the Old Town and (Gamla Stan) to numerous antique shops. One of today’s highlights is a visit to the striking Blue and Golden Halls of City Hall, the chosen venue for the annual Nobel Prize banquet. Enjoy lunch at the hotel and spend your free time, in the afternoon, visiting the famous Wasa Museum or taking one of the popular canal tours. Tonight, you'll stay at the Clarion Hotel Sign. Why not get a taste of Swedish cuisine in one of the local restaurants?

  • Day 10 - Stockholm - Helsinki

    Enjoy some more time at leisure exploring Stockholm’s delights before transferring to the pier for an overnight cruise to Helsinki. Bring an overnight bag for your cruise, to avoid having to take suitcases to and from your cabin. With dinner in the onboard restaurant and a choice of entertainment, bars, shops and a casino, there's plenty to keep you busy this evening. Accommodation is in  an en suite, two berth, outside cabin with a shower and WC.

  • Day 11 - Helsinki

    Helsinki

    Awake to a buffet-style breakfast as you sail into Helsinki harbour. Upon arrival, there is a three hour guided tour of this beautiful city. Gaze in awe at famous sights such as the Senate Square, Uspenski Cathedral, Parliament House, Finlandia Hall, Sibelius Park & Monument and the Underground Temple. This afternoon, on your Fjords and Russia Holiday, shop ‘til you drop at the marketplace and the many souvenir shops close to the harbour. Popular buys include Finnish crystal and leather goods. Enjoy dinner and accommodation at the first-class Haven Hotel, close to the city centre.

  • Day 12 - Helsinki - St. Petersburg

    Helsinki - St. Petersburg

    Travel to St Petersburg today, on your Fjords and Russia Holiday. Enjoy an early breakfast before transferring to the railway station where you’ll catch the Finnish train ‘Allegro’. There's a picnic lunch onboard the train which you’ll devour before arriving in St. Petersburg midafternoon. Your transfers from the railway station include an hour long, guided boat cruise along the Neva River and a visit to St. Isaac's Cathedral. Arriving at the four star, city centre, Ambassador Hotel, near the famous Marinsky Theatre, you'll enjoy dinner, a shot of vodka and a glass of wine.

  • Day 13 - St Petersburg

    St Petersburg

    After breakfast, return to the Neva River for a cruise to Peterhof on a hydrofoil. Witness the Grand Palace and the lower parks with beautiful fountains. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before embarking on a tour of the renowned Hermitage Art Museum and the State Rooms of the Winter Palace. You'll dine and sleep at the Ambassador Hotel tonight.

  • Day 14 - St. Petersburg

    St. Petersburg

    Following a buffet breakfast, there's an excursion to Pushkin with a tour of Catherine's Palace and its world-famous Amber Room. Afterwards, savour some Russian culinary delights at a local restaurant. After lunch, there is a three hour, panoramic city tour to look forward to, accompanied by an English-speaking guide. You’ll have chance to witness some of St Petersburg’s best-known treasures as well as many hidden gems. The tour includes the Square of Arts, the Russian Museum, the Cathedral of Our Saviour on the Split Blood, Griboedov canal, Nevsky Prospect, Palace Square with Winter Palace, the spit of the Basil’s Island, the Menshikov Palace, the Senate Square and the Bronze Horseman. You’ll later pay a visit to the Peter & Paul Fortress. This evening, there's an exciting Russian folklore show to look forward to, at the Nikolaevsky Palace, with snacks during the interval. Tonight's dinner on the Fjords and Russia Holiday will be at the Dostoevsky Restaurant.

  • Day 15 - Departure
