Hotel Hackspett in Sweden
A cosy treetop retreat for two
Tightly secured by wires to a 130 year old oak tree, 13 metres above the ground in a public park, the Hotel Hackspett offers unique overnight accommodation for an experience guests will never forget. In English, its name translates as Woodpecker Hotel and it is the brainchild of Swedish artist Mikael Genberg, who also designed the underwater Utter Inn on nearby Lake Malaren. Guests who stay here do need a head for heights, but the views from the tree top are rewarding.
The Hotel Hackspett is located in a green and leafy public park called Vasaparken in the heart of the town of Västerås. Plenty of shops, bars and restaurants are nearby. The train station is only minutes away and the picturesque Lake Mälaren is just a short stroll to the south. The beautiful city of Stockholm is around an hour's drive away, as is the airport, which makes the Hotel Hackspett easy to reach.
At the Hotel Hackspett, the bedroom is small and cosy with large windows that flood the room with light, allowing guests to enjoy the views of the park and the town from their lofty retreat. The comfortable double bed has soft blankets and the room has a heater so guests can stay warm during the cooler nights. Plain and elegant, the interior décor at the Hotel Hackspett exudes the fresh, clean style that is typical of Swedish design.
