Zambia Holidays

One of the best safari destinations imaginable, Zambia, in southern Africa, boasts wildlife and culture aplenty. This is where the famous African walking safari was pioneered, where the stunning Victoria Falls draws visitors from all over the world, where the wild Zambezi flows and the amazing Big Five turn wildlife lovers’ dreams into reality. Zambia holidays offer all of this and so much more and, as the country is one of the least travelled safari destinations, there’s something very special about this place. You’ll feel like you’re being let in on a fabulous secret as you explore new destinations, experience amazing attractions and encounter wildlife beyond your wildest dreams. Zambia holidays are amazing – book yours today!

Zambia holidays introduce you to a wide selection of fascinating creatures. Here you will find 740 bird species, 200 mammal species and 143 reptile species. Creatures range from the Big Five (elephant, lion, leopard, rhino and buffalo) to giraffe, zebra, warthog, antelope and a wide range of primates. When it comes to predators, aside from leopards and lions, you can look forward to seeing cheetahs, hyenas and wild dogs in action and, for something a little different, look out for Honey Badgers, African Wildcats and the Mongoose Jackal.

Taking local flight transfers from one camp to another, on our Zambia holidays, are an adventure in themselves giving you the chance to see the creatures from the air, as well as on the organised walking safaris and game drives. And for a real Zambia speciality, keep an eye open for the famous tree climbing lions of Kafue – who have developed this skill to get a better view of their intended prey!

National Parks

Take our Zambia holidays and you’ll soon discover, the country’s National Parks are really something else! Kafue, for example, is the third largest in Africa and covers an area similar to that of Wales. It is one of the best parks in Africa to see different species of antelope including roan, sable, hartebeest, eland, wildebeest, impala, puku, oribi, sitatunga, duiker, waterbuck and red lechwe. It is also a great place to see cheetah, leopard, wild dog, hyena and tree climbing lions as well as elephants, hippos and crocodiles. The only animal missing is, in fact, the giraffe!

South Luangwa National Park, home of the first ever walking safari, is a remote wilderness brimming with fabulous creatures. Here you’ll find a wide diversity of habitats and a game density and variety rarely experienced in Africa. Look out for antelope, wildebeest and zebra, crocodiles, leopards and lions, baboons and Vervet Monkeys, Honey Badgers, civet and African Wild Dog. And no visit to South Luangwa National Park would be complete without a sighting of Thornicroft's Giraffe – a species which is indigenous to the park - or the endemic wildebeest subspecies that reside here.

Natural Attractions

As well as the wildlife, Zambia holidays simply must include a trip to see the amazing Victoria Falls. Known to the locals as ‘the smoke which thunders’, the impressive, mile-wide, falls were brought to European attention in 1885, when David Livingstone named them after Queen Victoria.

The Fall’s local wildlife sanctuary is also well worth a visit and here you’ll see White Rhino, elephants, giraffe, zebra, sable, eland, buffalo and impala among mopane and teak woodlands.
