Mana Pools National Park

Enjoy unforgettable activities on our Zimbabwe holidays

This national park is one of the most famous in Africa. Animals flock to the park's four large waterholes along the Zambezi River, in search of water. During the dry season, many water sources disappear, making this the ideal location to see wildlife congregating. This beautiful UNESCO World Heritage Site is home to many of Africa’s Big Five, including an abundance of elephants, as well as many water-based creatures such as the hippo and crocodile.

Hwange National Park

As the largest game reserve in Zimbabwe, Hwange houses a vast array of animals and plant life. This park is home to the Big Five but it is particularly noted for its huge elephant population. The easternmost Kalahari Desert creeps into the Hwange area, mixing with the teak forests, meaning that the desert adapted animals share the same habitat as woodland species. With over 100 animal and 400 bird species residing here, many people visit the area and head out on thrilling game drives in search of some of nature’s most impressive creatures. The park is also home to the Painted Dogs Conservation Centre, where essential efforts are being made to protect the endangered African Wild Dog.

Matoba Hills National Park

This UNESCO World Heritage Site is famous for its distinctive rock formations. These huge boulders provide natural shelter for the incredible wildlife which resides here. Amongst the most impressive of the creatures spotted are the black and white rhinoceros, leopard and the black eagle. The Hills are also an important historical and cultural landmark, home to a collection of original rock paintings, believed to have been drawn by Bushmen in the early Stone Age.

Great Zimbabwe Ruins

The ancestors of the Shoba people began construction of this site in the 11th century. By the time it was completed, around the 14th century, nearly 18,000 people called it home. The once thriving city, an extremely important centre for historical Southern Africa, fell into decline. Incredibly, the ruins are still visible today and are an important reminder of Zimbabwe’s pre-colonial history. The Hill Complex, which is known for its fantastic views, is one of the Great Zimbabwe Ruins' best attractions.
